  Mon. 7/20/09 10:28am Joe Steele:

His brutality and lack of due process remind me of Stardust.
  Mon. 7/20/09 10:29am BSI:

  Mon. 7/20/09 10:56am Carmichael:

Spend a few days in/at Lake Tahoe, head to Reno, and then catch the King Tut exhibit in San Francisco. Should be fun.
  Mon. 7/20/09 10:57am annie:

carm, it sounds great!!! driving each time?
  Mon. 7/20/09 10:58am Cecile:

wow, that sounds amazing. Some year I want to go to Tahoe, not to gamble, just for sightseeing.
And I do want to go to Reno, just to get my picture taken at the biggest little city sign, cause I am a huge Reno 911! fan.
  Mon. 7/20/09 10:58am Cecile:

nice! I just know her from Soulful Dress.
  Mon. 7/20/09 10:59am Carmichael:

Yep, driving. I only live about 100 miles from any of those places, so it's easy.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:00am annie:

wonderful!!!! driving is da bomb for vacations... IMHO.. :)
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:01am Carmichael:

My sister's family settled in Reno, and I think they're getting a little tired of the notoriety. It is a good show, though.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:04am annie:

  Mon. 7/20/09 11:12am John Horus:

Don't judge me. Just accept that I do this for my love of pie.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:13am Parq:

Carm, I saw the King Tut show in Philly a couple of years ago. Plan to take a good leisurely time going through it. B/t/w, I am going to Nova Scotia next week; anybody got tips?
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:13am Carmichael:

  Mon. 7/20/09 11:30am nimi:

Mon. 7/20/09 11:32am "Refer Madness" article in NYT Sun. Style Section:

  Mon. 7/20/09 11:36am trirsh:

http://www.chezchristophe.ca/en/restaurantgallery.html

Tiny home restaurant with the best seafood chowder arguably in the province. In the town of Grosses Coques..
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:41am trirsh:

Halifax? Propeller beer brewed in the north end on Gottingen is great beer-- especially the ESB. Mm. Cousins, the diner on Agricola, has great deep fried clams - if you can stand them. Decent beaches and swimming within ~20 min driving distance to the city -- all worth a visit.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:45am trirsh:

Decent local rag for misc current in Hfx : http://www.thecoast.ca
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:48am trirish:

and another perspective : http://halifaxlocals.com
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:49am Parq:

@Trish: All noted. Many thanks.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:53am PMD:

Hi all - happy Monday and thanks for the show BW... alas been in and out of my office so will have to catch again on archives.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:53am still b/p:

Parq - RIP 'BCN, eh? Funny how so many quotes confirmed the decline and dimishing appeal since the glory days.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:54am Cecile:

I would have requested Halifax by the Hampton Grease Band, but you need to have a good half hour for that one.

wh'appen BCN?
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:55am trish:

Have fun. Water's cold this time of year. Warmer along the Northumberland Strait, where there's also lots of jellyfish (tiny, cute, sting-y)
Most of the touristy spots are terrible.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:56am G:

BCN changed from classic rock to sports talk
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:58am trish:

exceptions-- Kejimkujik Nat'l Park -- backwoods
and even the 'touristy' beaches are pretty wonderful all over
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:58am Cecile:

oh, boy.
Well, some of those sports DJs have better bumper music than most commercial stations. Still.
  Mon. 7/20/09 11:59am Parq:

It's over for what we used to call progressive rock on commercial radio. Really, it's been over for a long time, but the last bits of foundation are crumbling. I haven't turned on my radio tuner (which can't pick up FMU) in months.
  Mon. 7/20/09 12:01pm Cecile:

I think it can be reinvented, but it has to get bad enough that someone will takea chance.
  Mon. 7/20/09 12:03pm still b/p:

Article in today's Globe about young music seekers sure as hell not seeking/expecting new stuff in broadcast. Radio, shmadio.
  Mon. 7/20/09 12:12pm Ike:

Boston still has some decent non-commercial stations, doesn't it? That's where you expect/seek new stuff.

Good show!
  Mon. 7/20/09 1:19pm bw:
