Wed. 7/15/09 12:12pm From: BSI

That Blues Control tune has been getting some fair exposure on FMU, and it gets better each time, somehow...... mas groovy.

Wed. 7/15/09 12:32pm From: Dan B

Delia Derbyshire? She's one of the people responsible for the haunting Doctor Who Theme.

Wed. 7/15/09 12:34pm From: Vicki

yes, it was a British SciFi series. And many of those doing the music were from the BBC Radiophonic Workshop (including Delia)

Wed. 7/15/09 12:37pm From: CC

I believe those weren't flutes, but mellotron from King Crimson chopped up.

Wed. 7/15/09 12:37pm From: Dan B

Just curious if that's Vicki from Do or DIY chiming in. :-)

Wed. 7/15/09 12:43pm From: Maria

Thanks Vicki-- so much good stuff came out of that, it seems

Wed. 7/15/09 12:46pm From: Vicki

it's worth checking out their album "BBC RAdiophonic Music" by the Radiophonic Workshop - I think it could be in the fmu mp3 library

Wed. 7/15/09 12:50pm From: Carmichael

Well, OK. Mellotrons Rule!!

Wed. 7/15/09 12:52pm From: fishmonkeystew

Hey Vicki, I'm going to be spending a week in London and a week in Scotland (around Edinburgh) starting at the end of October. Do you have any suggestions for weird and wacky places to visit?

Wed. 7/15/09 12:56pm From: Vicki

for London - I recommend the Southbank Centre, Barbican, a Thames Boat trip, a trip to Hampton Court and Richmond/Richmond Park... er... see old London/Thames at Wapping, take the bus instead of the tube, and if you're around London for 5th November then it's Bonfire Night (Guy Fawkes) all over the UK and you should go to Sussex (a county)... do a Google.

Wed. 7/15/09 1:17pm From: Vicki

well that certainly shut you up

Wed. 7/15/09 1:26pm From: fishmonkeystew

hehehe, I'm at work and trying to stay focused-sort of. Thanks for the sweet suggestions. And as it happens, I will be in London on Nov. 5th, leaving on the 6th. And that sounds like a blast. You rock, Vicki.

Off to google.

Wed. 7/15/09 1:26pm From: matt

Does that mean Judith Chalmers is hosting tonight's Do or DIY?

Wed. 7/15/09 1:26pm From: Stanley

Fishmonkeystew - I can give you a few good tips for Edinburgh, the wonderful city I call home. If you're still listening and interested I'll leave my email with Maria.

Wed. 7/15/09 1:29pm From: fishmonkeystew

Stanley, that would be awesome! This whole trip started out for a friend's wedding at Gosfield Hall and developed into a 2 week jaunt. I thought that if I'm going (my first time) I better make it worth while.

Wed. 7/15/09 1:31pm From: Vicki

Gosfield in Essex?
Concerning Bonfire Night - look up Lewes Bonfire Night. Early train journey/ticket buying recommended.

Wed. 7/15/09 1:32pm From: Parq

Miss M- I am straightening up at home this PM, and not near the puter, but I wanted to pop in and say the show is superb, as always. So nice to have you on the air in the afternoon again.

Wed. 7/15/09 1:36pm From: fishmonkeystew

Vicki- yep, Gosfield in Essex. Looks like a pretty impressive place, and we've got a room booked the night of the wedding.

Maria, thanks for the killer show. Good stuff.

Fishmonkey - cool! I have left my email with Maria if you want to drop her a line. I'm sure she won't mind. Get in touch - always willing to help a fellow FMU addict.

Wed. 7/15/09 2:05pm From: fishmonkeystew

Thanks, Stanley. This trip is quickly looking like it is going to be the best yet. I can't wait.

Wed. 7/15/09 2:18pm From: Brian Sanders

Hey Mr Stew, If you are in London visit Greenwich SW London the line where time is measured. You can also visit the Camera Obscura there. A wonderful device. Predates the camera. Great views of London.

Wed. 7/15/09 2:28pm From: fishmonkeystew

Aw, yeah, the Camera Obscura! I'm so there! You guys rule! I knew that my fellow FMUers would have some good suggestions.

None of this is helping me concentrate on work. hehehe.

Wed. 7/15/09 2:31pm From: Brian S

Oops. Make that SE London by Docklands Light Railway. Sterns in Warren Steet for any World music you may need. A walk along the South Bank & a ride on the London Eye. Enjoy.

Wed. 7/15/09 2:45pm From: BSI

So I turn my back for a minute (okay an hour or so) and missed another Moebius & Plank track from Rastakraut Pasta... this happened yesterday as well! There is no gawd!

Wed. 7/15/09 2:47pm From: Parq

At the risk of sounding like a suck-up, and with apologies to ZCR, I like Miss Maria's H&M version better.
