Paul:

I LOVE THIS VERSION OF FEVER. COOL, baby..
  7:18pm
G:

Nice tuneage for me to keep from being annoyed while working online. :-) Another saudade-filled song about brasilian carnaval...

Spotted the FMU brigade seated under a tent at the Burmese Water Festival on the Lower East Side this afternoon. Bryce's hairdo is hard to mistake. Was with companions or I'd have considered poking them in person...
  7:20pm
texas scott:

hello,monica and fellow fans,
hey G...was pseu in the mix?
  7:26pm
G:

I'm more an ear person than an eye person, so I am not an expert on appearances of radio hosts. Bryce is just visually distinctive at this point. It was definitely not a stag group, though...
  7:29pm
monica:

how-dee to Jeff M. (don't be gettin' me in trubs!), G (did Bryce leave a good tip?), Paul (me too! just heard it today!), Texas Scott in da house!, Dean happy bday to yer fren), CB1 (mon plaisir), Erik (it's Namtchylak, I mispelled it too!)... OK, who's buyin' tonight?
  7:32pm
texas scott:

next round on me.
barkeep...set'um up.
  7:33pm
G:

The Burmese Water Festival was one of those "buy strings of tickets for a dollar apiece and redeem them at food vendors" events. If Bryce is normally an excellent tipper, he'd have been frustrated at his lack of opportunity. Definitely a carry-around-with-you event rather than a table-service event.

The music and dancing (with hand gestures) was worth the trip...
  7:38pm
Maggie in Rock Tavern:

Hey Monica! You so rule the Sunday evening airwaves.
  7:40pm
Paul:

You never cease to amaze....!!!!

oh my gosh! i remember this cartoon.

G:

Sonia Manzano was I believe the person who first sang the song "Turn Back O Man" in the original version of Godspell, though I'm not sure if she was in the New York or the London show, in the early 70s. The internet knows. My grandparents took me to the London version when I was a wee thing.
  8:08pm
Parq:

Just tuned in and wondered if this was you -- and it is! My kiddo was 4 when "Lion King" first hit the screen, so I've been through the theatrical release, the VHS cassette release, the movie soundtrack (on cassette), the BWay OC album (CD) and the deluxe two-disc DVD release. I sometimes feel that I ought to set a place for Nate Lane and Ernie Sabella at dinner.
  8:09pm
Parq:

Speaking of dinner, I'm heading back into the kitchen, and I'd better not hear Miss Monica report that you guys are giving her trouble. Remember, there's ice cream at stake.

Ann Magnuson rules. And she's Ken's friend on the 'book. (My head is too full of bubbles to figure out if she's yours, as well.)

I loved the "Men's Choir" song. But which particular Men's Choir, again? I've been hearing some fun stuff recently fron the Seattle Men's Chorus (and their subset[?], Captain Smartypants).

Also: yay, bubbles. They make me festive.

tonite's show has been very enjoyable.thank you.
  8:42pm
Jeff M:

Oh, for those interested in the bubbly (tasted blind):

Perrier Jouet Grand Brut (a long personal favorite, which I expected to come in first): kind of malty, almost beer-like, complex and interesting but maybe a distraction from a time of festivity: 2nd

Pol Roger, another reliable go-to Champagne: nice, held together well, but on the verge of being cloyingly sweet: 3rd.

Nicholas Feuillatte, which we'd enjoyed the once we'd had it by itself: kind of dirty and incoherent. 4th.

Piper Sonoma Brut, a California wannabe we snuck in to see if we could get away with something at 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the others: A little sour, not particularly complex or coherent -- I continue to consider it an excellent Mimosa bubbly. 5th

Louis Roederer Brut Premier: Yummy. Subtly complex, notes of vanilla, perhaps backed by a bit of pear. A coherent (even though complex) oneness of flavor, and all with a lighter overall aesthetic which is consistent with being enjoyable in its own right, but not necessarily distracting from a festive occasion. Never had it before, just grabbed a bottle based on some in-store blurbs (and, yeah, these guys do make Cristal).. Delightful. 1st.
  8:45pm
Paul:

Really excellent show tonight - had to write down lots of names.
Thanks.
  8:47pm
Bruce:

Gonna get me some of that dirty and incoherent bubbly
  8:48pm

About Buckets of Rain:

a) Dave Van Ronk's name alway reminds me of those Alligator Records catalogs I never paid enough attention to.

b) Have you ever heard the version by Redbird?
  8:50pm
G:

Jeff, it's good to see someone is willing to tough it out in the interests of scientific knowledge.
  8:53pm
Jeff M:

That's me. Always spewing in the troughs of The Scientific Method.
  8:54pm
