Playlist for Brian Turner - June 30, 2009

Tuesdays 3pm - 6pm on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Belgian Underground Retrospective w/ KRAAK Records (Listen to this set: Real | )
Special 4-6PM: Belgian Underground retrospective  guest DJs Steve and Tommy from KRAAK Records   www.kraak.net    With major European cities' rents climbing, Belgium has quickly become an escape hatch for many artists, and hence an exploding hub of underground art, music, and culture. Tommy Denys and Steve Marreyt play in Silvester Anfang and run the Kraak record label out of Ghent which has been exporting WFMU faves like Ignatz and Paris' El-G among others. Today they're going to stop by around 4PM to Brian's show and put the magnifying glass on a history of cool sounds past and present from a land that has given us such riches as Aksak Maboul, Bene Gesserit and the Honeymoon Killers. Cassette rarities, Belgian outsiders, and even some metal are promised.
