Thu. 2/19/09 2:02am From: Joe

Well... aren't you organized! Cool playlist - good luck and welcome!

Thu. 2/19/09 2:04am From: Betsy

Hey Joe! Thanks.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:10am From: Dan

Just tuned in. Late. Damn. I'll play the whole thing back out of archives later. Totally sweet. It's hot as hell in Vietnam.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:11am From: Betsy

Welcome Dan! Are you really in da 'Nam?

Thu. 2/19/09 2:12am From: Dan

Indeed. When did this show start?

Thu. 2/19/09 2:13am From: Joe

... are you a Lieutenant?

Thu. 2/19/09 2:16am From: Betsy

Hi, it just started a few minutes ago.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:17am From: Dan

I just figured that out. Far out. We're live!

Thu. 2/19/09 2:20am From: Derek Dub

Hi Betsy, this is very good

Thu. 2/19/09 2:22am From: Betsy

Hey thanks Derek!

Thu. 2/19/09 2:22am From: tullius

hi betsy-

what's the very cool sweet fuzzy tune before Better Go Home Now?

Thu. 2/19/09 2:24am From: Betsy

Zambian group called Amanaz - that recording was originally from 1975. Reissue was on a German label called Shadoks.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:26am From: tullius

Thanks. Out of order with the pl, then? Very cool stuff nonetheless..

Thu. 2/19/09 2:30am From: Derek Dub

Betsy, turn up your mike

Thu. 2/19/09 2:31am From: tullius

Or key down the background a bit..

Thu. 2/19/09 2:32am From: Rick

Hey, great songs. You should pod down that bed music a little - having trouble hearing you.

Is it 'pod' or 'pot'?

You rock

Thu. 2/19/09 2:33am From: Betsy

Aaahhh! I just talked! Ok thanks for the notes about the bed music being too loud.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:35am From: Rick

'pod' or 'pot', Betsy?

Thu. 2/19/09 2:38am From: Betsy

Oh hey Tullius, yeah the tune before Bessie Banks was by a group from Boston called "Baab Ceegur". They are friends and I don't think they've put any recordings out.
Rick: I say music "bed" but I would also go with pod OR pot! Excellent choices all.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:41am From: Rick

I hear FMU dj's talking about 'podding' up/down various things. Can never tell if they're saying 'pod' or 'pot'. Anybody on the board know the answer to this?

Anyway, this is a great show. Instant fan, Betsy. Even your name is cool.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:41am From: Betsy

Hey thanks Rick!

Tullius: check this out http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1XUgPoNmyJU

Thu. 2/19/09 2:44am From: Derek Dub

not sure , ...a pan pot is a knob, as in knob twiddler , so maybe pot? either way Betsy your on it

Thu. 2/19/09 2:45am From: tullius

ha, great Tubin' Betsy, thanks. Now I won't forget that song.

Also, I think it's "pad"...

Thu. 2/19/09 2:47am From: Rick

Thanks for that - bet you're right, Derek.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:49am From: Art Lessing (Dan)

Thu. 2/19/09 2:50am From: Betsy

Thu. 2/19/09 2:53am From: Derek Dub

Thu. 2/19/09 2:55am From: Joe

This is a great fill-in. Like, Steve Krinsky good.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:56am From: Joe

With less Cumbia, of course.

Thu. 2/19/09 2:57am From: Betsy

Who's Steve Krinsky? Also thank you!!!

Thu. 2/19/09 2:58am From: Rick

Wait, is this a fill-in show? If so, Betsy needs her own show. Seriously, this is good stuff. Thanks, Betsy.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:00am From: Rick

Krinsky playlists:

Thu. 2/19/09 3:00am From: Joe

Steve Krinsky is the king of the fill-ins! Also, he's a guy whose name is fun to say.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:00am From: Joe

Betsy Nichols is a pretty fun name to say too, don't get me wrong.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:01am From: Betsy

Yes I am filling in for Night People. I'll check out Krinsky's playlists

Thu. 2/19/09 3:05am From: Rick

Love the show, Betsy. Please fill in more - or get your own show.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:07am From: DErek Dub

perfect , no need for pod/pot/padding!

Thu. 2/19/09 3:07am From: Rick

The Bamboo dude in the hat looks like he's trying to be Dickie Betts, circa 1969.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:08am From: Rick

Wait, is he Dickie Betts?

Thu. 2/19/09 3:09am From: Derek Dub

he wishes

Thu. 2/19/09 3:10am From: Betsy

Ha! I love that album, and the cover photo cracks me up EVERY time I see it.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:10am From: Rick

Man, that's some shot of Cat Stevens. Seriously, Cat. Put that leg down.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:12am From: Rick

Who knew Cat had such a huge box?

Thu. 2/19/09 3:12am From: lisa p.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:13am From: Betsy

Hi Lisa! Thanks and welcome.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:16am From: Betsy

Yeah, Cat really makes that peace sign count.

The YouTube link I put next to this track (First Aid Kit) is a better recording than the one I just played...

Thu. 2/19/09 3:19am From: Rick

Baab Ceegur/Buddy Holly/Monk/Ann Coulter Stammering/First Aid Kit/Charlie Rich. This is flat-out inspired. Betsy, are you gunning for your own show at FMU? Seriously, you rock!

Thu. 2/19/09 3:20am From: b.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:21am From: Betsy

Thu. 2/19/09 3:23am From: Rick

My next donation to FMU will include a request for Betsy Nichols to be given her own show. And my donations are HUGE! Well, not really huge, really. I'm no Lorrie from Miami. But I give. I do give.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:29am From: Betsy

Ha! Well shucks, thanks. Nice to have moderately well-heeled listeners.

Thu. 2/19/09 3:30am From: tullius

Thu. 2/19/09 3:34am From: Betsy

Thu. 2/19/09 5:12am From: (mta) Tony

Agreeing with everyone tonight who's spoken out about your great show, Betsy. One of the best I've heard in a while. Tuning in late (but actually only by a few minutes), I saw the entire playlist posted so I said to myself, "Oh man, this show's over; I wish I tuned-in sooner to catch it from the beginning..." then I noticed you were playing songs from the top of the list, SO MY WISH CAME TRUE IMMEDIATELY AFTER MAKING IT! I'll have to check the archives to see if you have previous shows for us. If so, I'll definitely check them out, too. You made a lot of folks happy this evening, Betsy. Much appreciated. Great taste.

Thu. 2/19/09 5:16am From: Betsy

Hey wow that's so nice, thanks Tonyyyyy!!!!!!!!

Thu. 2/19/09 5:20am From: (mta) Tony

I just bought that Raincoats CD only last week. What a coincidence. Like I said, you've got good taste. Tell me, Betsy, do you have archived shows available?

Thu. 2/19/09 5:21am From: Betsy

Hi, this is my first archived show (I did a one hour show in December but I don't know that it is archived). Yeah the Raincoats rule!

Hi
Good to see Legend (Mickey Jupp's band) is still being played. I played bass on two of Legend's singles and three ablums. (The latest was only released this year: Never too old to Rock.)
Cheers
John
