Hi Bethany,

love this mariachi brass marching band type stuff!

Sun. 2/1/09 10:19pm From: gerardo

the title of beirut's track sounds sth like "lah yoronah", meaning "the crying woman" ;)

Sun. 2/1/09 10:22pm From: bethany

Thanks, Gerardo. I need all the help I can get. And someday I will practice so when I have to speak on the spot I don't slaughter the language. Gracias!

Hi Bethany. I've had a lousy day today! That makes me DOUBLY GLAD it's time for your show. "If the piano were the body of a woman", well, that is a great track title.

Sun. 2/1/09 10:28pm From: gerardo

de nada! - anytime ;)

and don't feel sad: your mispronunciations become new ways of approaching the language - many of us chileans feel the same in our "first encounters" with the english language...

Sun. 2/1/09 10:28pm From: bethany

Did everyone who asked get their postcards? If you want something other than a bill in the mail - email me your addy and I'll get something to you.

Sun. 2/1/09 10:31pm From: richard

I don't think I got mine yet but we Canucks just weathered a postal strike so it might still be en route.

Sun. 2/1/09 10:38pm From: dan in falls church VA

I loved my postcard! Maoist babes pirouetting with antique radios on one side, Bethany's revelation of her fish and chips experience right here in Falls Church, on the other side!

Sun. 2/1/09 10:39pm From: gerardo

is it too late for getting a postcard?

Sun. 2/1/09 10:50pm From: bethany

It is never too late to get a postcard. Send your postal address to bethany (at) wfmu (dot) org

Sun. 2/1/09 10:56pm From: trsish

Sun. 2/1/09 11:04pm From: SPUD

Whart is a postcard...some special kind of Email ?

Sun. 2/1/09 11:05pm From: bethany

Home made postcards - SURE! All you have to do is tell me your favorite color(s).

Sun. 2/1/09 11:07pm From: gerardo

bringing back good old "snail mail", i love that - and home made stuff too!

(btw, akiyama was here two or three months ago, playing some improvised sets - i wasn't able to attend (work shift problems)

Sun. 2/1/09 11:08pm From: trissh

oh I meant to send a home made..
sounds like it'd be aok to me.

I'll send it when I get it printed.

Sun. 2/1/09 11:50pm From: gerardo

talking abour latinamerican composers...

i was wondering if u have heard an album called "50 años de electroacustica en Chile". it's a 3-cd set compilation with very interesting stuff (particularly in terms of including previously unavailable historic material). last year, it received a quartz award in the "best compilation" category.
