Ike:

Awesome voice.
  3:15pm
Sean Daily:

Yay, Irwin! Out with Bush bashing, time for 'BAMA-BASHING!

Oh, and... Second comment! Woo hoo!
  3:16pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Didn't Lee Morgan do another piece called "Oh no you didn't, oh yes I did"?
  3:18pm
Nick the Bard:

Well my throats dead for the day...
  3:20pm
phillip360:

see you next time kenny G
  3:22pm
Cecile:

I'm just a music listener, I don't know nothing 'bout birthin' no babies or politimacal stuff or whatnot. Just like Mr. Pomeroy!
  3:22pm
Keili's Beastin' Mama:

I called the studio to tell Nick T Bard that he scared the crap out of Johnny Cash. But someone hung up on me.
  3:24pm
Parq:

Okay, I admit it - I don't believe in America, and nether do the other Obama voters. There, I said it. Glad to have it out in the open.
  3:26pm
The Momager:

Anyone who would scare Johnny Cash doesn't believe in America! Johnny Cash IS America! America IS Johnny Cash!
  3:28pm
jan:

Well, Irwin, I can see that you haven't paid any heed to our president's exhortations to "put away childish things."
  3:29pm
Cecile:

I'll bet dollars to donuts that President Barry still has his Spiderman comix.
  3:31pm
GP:

This sounds great in headphones...
  3:31pm
Nick the Bard:

He's IN a Spiderman comic, never mind having them all.
  3:32pm
Nick the Bard:

Johnny Cash died on the same day as John Ritter, and tha'ts sad, so, um, yay I scared a dead man.
  3:32pm
jan:

if he still has his comics, now is the time for him to post them on ebay.
  3:33pm
Lisa:

More scary to me is the fact that you have that information floating around in your head! xo
  3:34pm
christiaan:

thanks for playing my mix irwin. gotta go back to work, but will listen to the rest of the show later thru the archive. hope nick's voice returns soon.
  3:37pm

If Danielle would just behave she might be able to soak up the sun.
  3:39pm
Cecile:

till the sun comes up on Santa Monica Boulevard.
  3:39pm
north guinea hills:

i can sometimes read poetry, but i sure as hell can't listen to it, even if it's good.
  3:41pm
Carmichael:

Hello Irwin and everyone,

This song is very pleasant, in a non-threatening way.
  3:46pm
Laura L:

Maybe you can't read poetry, Irwin, but Gordon sure can--his recitation explored the depths of NOT in such a way that it was clear the soul of a poet lurks in that young man!
  3:47pm
Parq:

Anything from Pushbutton Parfait is always welcome. I love the zither sting that introduces the bridge in this track.
  3:48pm
Irwin:

I suspect Gordon and Nick the Bard are the same person. Do you have the same suspicion, Laura?
  3:48pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Very nice treatment of Tobacco Auctioneer.
  3:50pm
anon:

Gordon and Nick the bard, the same? Howabout the codger and Gordon? more likely they are the same.
  3:50pm
jan:

I'm lovin this Scott piece- didn't know it. thanks Irwin
  3:54pm
Cecile:

ha, ha, the hold steady made a reference to "Breaking Away"
  3:54pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Although Mr. Scott was not comfortable with people taking liberties with his arrangements, I don't think he'd have much good to say about the Orchestrette?
  3:56pm
Laura L:

Nah, Nick and Gordon are different poets who march to the beat of a different drummer, or rather two different drummers. I think The Old Codger could teach young Gordon a thing or two--they should get together over a rum!
  4:00pm
Sean Daily:

Irwin: First Ctrl-Shift-Colon, then type the letter that you want to have the umlaut
  4:00pm
GP:

Irwin..what is that you have going in the background..right now. Thanks
  4:01pm

  4:01pm
Cecile:

I saw the Hold Steady as Lifter Puller. Craig Finn is great live.
I always think he sounds like a cross of Mark E. Smith and Neil Diamond.
I don't like all their stuff, but they're kind of interesting.
  4:03pm
AnAnonymousParty:

The best part of the MtK version is when he trips and falls on the keyboaed at the end.
  4:03pm
Parq:

GP, that's an instrumental from Conershop's "When I Was Born for the Seventh Time".
  4:03pm
Sean Daily:

If that doesn't work, then go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools > Character Map, which is like Key Caps on a Mac.

If you don't see All Programs, just go straight to Accessories.
  4:03pm
Laura L:

You were right, of course. Fantastisch Mackie Messer!
  4:08pm
An impeccably dressed gentleman:

Something from the Care Bears would even things out rather nicely.
  4:08pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Check out chicken?
  4:09pm
Cecile:

Is this Hitmen band from Australia?
  4:11pm
Irwin:

Thänks for the ädvice. Äpplied.
  4:11pm
Carmichael:

Overmodulated pop. Very nice ....
  4:12pm
GP:

Parq..thank you. I have heard that before, in fact I think I have that CD somewhere, but just could not place it...
  4:20pm
Cärmichael:

Älright!
  4:24pm
thomas:

That Lollipop Train song was fantastic. Thanks!
  4:25pm
Sean Daily:

You know, I'm afraid that when they hook Andy's brain up to that EEG, they won't find anything.

Thank you, ladies and gentlemen. I'll be here all week. Try the meatloaf and don't forget to tip your waitress.
  4:26pm
Brian Haselden:

(private) Hello Irwin. I will find myself in KC tomorrow with some time to kill. Is there any Raymond Scott ephemera for me to view at UMKC? Happy belated New Year, BTW.
  4:30pm
Ace of ♠:

Ümlauts rule!
  4:33pm
ali:

  4:34pm
Melody Fair:

"remember you're only a woman"
What the hell is that supposed to mean?
  4:36pm
Lee:

irwin!!! i heard this Running with the Devil for the first time last night! it's so great! so great!
  4:37pm
ÄnÄnonymousPärty:

Looks like Ringo Angel isn't the only one who knows how to put broads down, eh?
  4:37pm
Carmichael:

Good God, make it stop.
  4:37pm
GP:

This Songsmith gadget is creepily good. Wait for the novelty whistle in this one...its killer.
  4:38pm
JJZ:

There's a good Songsmith version of Roxanne, I think it was.
  4:38pm
AnAnonymousParty:

"More fun than a barrel of David Lee Roths!"
  4:40pm
GP:

I heard that DLR is now a paramedic with the NYFD or something like that, or he trained to be a paramedic with them, or he once rode in one of their ambulances, or ...what is the real story New York?
  4:44pm
Glenn L:

He was an Emergency medical technician in NYC for a few years. Seriously. Not sure what he's up to now.
  4:47pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Ye Gods, DLR as a EMT? Can you imagine regaining conciousness after who knows what only to find him squatting over you holding the De-fib paddles?
  4:51pm
Glenn L:

Yes but I'd have to imagine that, just like in VH,
he'd have lots and lots of available "painkillers" on him.
  4:52pm
GP:

I remember reading somewhere that possibly his dad was a doctor, and he wanted to go to medical school but got caught up in the band...so he decided that he still wanted to help people after and learn about medicine. I think the paramedic / EMT lifestyle fits more with his gonzo lifestyle than being a doctor.
  4:53pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Maybe we'll see DLR in a cameo or ER or House?
  4:54pm
Glenn L:

Absolutely, GP! Agreed.
  4:55pm
Parq:

WOOSHIE!
  4:55pm
AnAnonymousParty:

Hey Irwin, can you put Mark Kennis (Heart of the Heartland) through the Songsmith?
  4:56pm
Mike:

Wooshie has Johnny Mathis quality to his voice.
  4:57pm
Cecile:

Oh, believe me, wooshie, the good is gone. Way gone.
  4:57pm
Laura L:

Never again! Until the next time! Wooshie! Any chance you unearthed Constance Mallis whilst crawling through the IM archives?
  4:58pm
Wooshie:

"Tenk you veddy nuch"
  5:02pm
whiskey tango foxtrot:

wow. I'm a fan of wooshie. He wants it so badly! you can't fake passion like that.
  5:03pm
Carmichael:

Wooshie followed by the Vogues. Why can't I ever think of brilliant segues like that?!?
  5:16pm
Carmichael:

I still watch my VHS copy of the Captain on SNL, where he performed "Ashtray Heart" and played the clarinet. Shocking to a teenage immigrant.
  5:18pm
Sean Daily:

Corn weenie? Oops, wrong show...
  5:20pm
AnAnonymousParty:

I have hay fever. I swear. Ah-choo ... ooh!
  5:21pm
GP:

I'm freaking sneezing my face off , right here, right now! Crazy.
  5:23pm
Sean Daily:

Um, WHO says life is sweeter through the telephoto lens of fame? Who is this unidentified "they"? Are they the same bastards that keep killing off Kenny?
  5:23pm
Cecile:

This Miranda Lambert song is the exact reason why I don't live in a small town anymore.

Funny song.
  5:24pm
Gp:

I luv this Miranda Lambert song! Gets my feet a dancin
  5:25pm
Carmichael:

My thumbs are in my belt.
  5:25pm
GP:

You got that right Cecile. My High School only had 250 kids.
  5:28pm
Cecile:

Mine was a big town, I think we had 700, K-12. And you could tell the late boomer classes, why we had a 100 kids in those classses.! LOL!
  5:38pm
Irwin:

On a notepad on the desktop is written "umlaut orgy." Hmmmm ... New name for the program?
  5:43pm
Sean Daily:

Or a good name for a band.
  5:43pm

If I ever see David Lee Roth in person I'm going to hit him as hard as I can.
  5:09pm
Ajax:

This is still the only place on the internet where you can hear "Teenage Trifle" by The Lollipop Train. Thanks, Irwin and WFMU's archive policy! Re-upping my contribution now.
