  9:14am
fishmonkeystew:

Good morning, Jason and Annie and everyone lurking. Jason, I'm stoked to hear Barnacled today. Providence is a hop skip and a jump away from me and I've been searching for new bands to stalk. yee haw.
  9:21am
Jason:

gmornin fms and annie! im psyched for barnacled too. turned up the volume
  9:45am
dc pat:

yer killin today, Jason.
  9:47am
mp:

wow, providence is in the house. alan sondheim was also from providence when he made those great 60's esp-disk recordings.
  9:55am
Jason:

thanks dc pat. mp i'll treat that as a request
  9:59am
mp:

thanks, it's amazing how that cross genre mixing has been around in providence for so long. something i've just been getting into/realizing. great show.
  10:06am
paulthepostman:

mp - its mainly cross gender mixing here in Brighton!

Hi everyone in wfmuland.
  10:08am
mp:

i applaud all cross mixing anywhere.
  10:10am
annie:

morning PTP.. (afternoon)
  10:11am
annie:

i was given the chance to see the new dead prez single coming out soon.. it is amazing..
  10:14am
THE WORLD:

Hi Annie, sun sets in 30mins...howyadiddlin?!
Hope the weekend was cool.
  10:16am
annie:

my weekend was great, i saw my son, he rocks!!! hung out with his pals and drank beer and watched a ball game..
  10:16am
Chad:

Yo, does anyone else hear some nasty cracklies on the stream? Sounds like digital distortion. Anyone else getting this?
  10:17am
paulthepostman:

The World? slack pasting..!
  10:18am
annie:

chad, after a while i just do not question the noises emitted by my speakers, no cracklins here,
  10:19am
Chad:

Hmm. Maybe it's on my end then. :(
  10:19am
paulthepostman:

Nice, was that baseball, Annie?
  10:20am
Raf:

Morning, Jason! Late start but with you now.
  10:21am
annie:

PTP, it was the dallas/giants game. very tedious, dallas won. football. almost 4 hours of commercials and ads and some game-time. chilled with the kids, is what i got out of it. nice bunch..
  10:24am
fishmonkeystew:

The Providence music scene kicks some major ass. My first small club experience was at Club Babyhead when I was 18. I'd make the hour drive every weekend to go catch a show. It didn't even matter who was playing-there was always something good.

Chad, if you have a program running that is heavy on the RAM, it'll distort your sound. Photoshop does that to me.
  10:24am
Petri:

I feel like I woke up in a recovery room after a heavy heavy cutting, and saw just a glimse of a rarely seen a bat species: hospital pastor. And I really liked the sound of a trumpet it played..
  10:31am
mp:

hey petri, that happened to me last week without the trumpet, i think mine was french horn.
  10:31am
Ken:

Chad - Who is your ISP? Comcast by any chance?
  10:35am
Carmichael:

Aloha, Jason. Please keep up the eclecticly good work.
  10:36am
panda123:

live from E 85 st!
  10:36am
Petri:

hey mp, if there is a next time, hope not, the instrument would be tuba, ´cause especially in pop music you never hear it played, why is that?
  10:40am
Carmichael:

I saw Taj Mahal once on TV in the '70s, playing "Cake Walk Into Town" with only a tuba player as backup. I classified it under "funky" .....
  10:40am
mp:

probably because the string bass replaced the tuba around 1895. more pop tuba!
  10:44am
dc pat:

I think Ridiculous Trio has a trombone player instead of a bass player...
  10:46am
GP:

Also late to the show...Windows stream sounds fine on this end.
Morning everyone.
  10:46am
Cecile:

agh, too f'ing cold here in the Midwest.

Well, after 2 days of tweaking, Windows media works again...
  10:46am
annie:

si i started to catalogue all my vinyl. song title, writers, performers, album title, label, etc.. 7 down, 6,993 to go.
  10:48am
annie:

hi cecile , did you get my email? glad to have you back.
  10:48am
Cecile:

ay caramba!
  10:49am
Cecile:

Yes, I did, I was lax about responding.
that is a genius idea for composting, we'll see how perky we are in the spring. thank you!
  10:49am
annie:

word, i am still staring at the barrel i have. i love the wheels!!
  10:50am
Duke:

Chad
I was getting clicks and pops on the 32k mp3 stream, but I switched to the Ogg stream and they went away.

BTW, great show!
  10:54am
Ike:

32k AAC+ sounds good here. I'm so glad I'm not stuck with dismal Windows Media, that plague upon the Earth.
  10:55am
Petri:

I stucked up with the idea... Jim Hendrix, the song Angel acoustic guitar with tuba, that would be good!
  11:02am
fishmonkeystew:

Dirty Dozen Brass Band has a tuba. And they rock.
  11:03am
Carmichael:

Ya Fish. I saw them play with Zachary Richard, and they rocked the place up.
  11:04am
mp:

the hungry march band has a kickin' tuba.
  11:07am
Cecile:

I think rock stopped using the tuba because of the Coasters' "D.W. Washburn", because, really, who could top that? ;)
  11:11am
fishmonkeystew:

My brother-in-law plays in a couple of bands down in Athen, GA (Jazzcronic and Free Lunch, amongst others), and he's been know to play the sousaphone, though his weapon of choice is the sax.
  11:12am
Carmichael:

Plus, it's hard to do the duck-walk or look like a sex machine to all the chicks while playing a tuba.
  11:15am
Parq:

The Stumblebum Brass Band is currently a trio of trumpet-vocals, tuba and snare drum. They did a good set at Rodeo recently. But the ne plus ultra of rock tuba will always be Deathtounge, the fictional metal band created by Berke Breathed. Drums, electric tounge and a penguin on tuba. Hi all, glad I didn't miss Barnacled.
  11:16am
Carmichael:

The Dixie Power Trio plays a whacked-out version of "Stairway to Heaven". The tuba blows Jimmy Page away ....
  11:16am
Miles:

This track "Title" has been stuck in my head for a month - which is a very good thing. For more info about tonight's gig at the Bowery Poetry Club check out www.espdisk.com thanks Jason and Barnacled. Long Live WFMU.
  11:16am
risky!:

go barnacled! go go go! go !
  11:18am
zorra:

Barnacled was great at don pedro's in brooklyn last night--if you missed it, you really should see 'em tonight at the bowery poetry club!
  11:19am
Carmichael:

This song seems to lend itself well to extreme interpretive dance.
  11:28am
zorra:

yes! always more dancing :)
  11:33am
north guinea hills:

this "vulcanizing society" track is rather stunning....
  11:34am
alaska:

barnacled kill!
  11:37am
Hatch:

Time to play some Davey Graham:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/music/2008/dec/16/folk-legend-davey-graham-dies
  11:40am
north guinea hills:

oh shitty tits! davey graham is dead! : (
  11:41am
Carmichael:

Shit, that's terrible. Maybe he'll finally get some peace in his life, er, his "thereafter". I played the album Hat a million times a day at one point. A true virtuoso.
  11:44am
mike:

holy
that was so good
  11:49am
Raf:

Awesome set!
  11:50am
Petri:

  11:53am
northwestlaura:

yeah, really great set.
  11:55am
fishmonkeystew:

Alright! Hey, Barnacled you rule! I'll be seeing you guys on January 10th at AS220 in Providence. Sweeeet.
  11:57am
Cecile:

great music, thanks!
  12:00pm
Petri:

Annie, what do you say, the most coolest people in the world, Peggy Lee and Nick Cave?
  12:01pm
Danny:

Excited to listen to the archive!
  5:43pm
