I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

dc pat:

just reading about this piece: the theremin sounding thing is a ondes Martenot. If I lived a couple of hundred miles closer to carnegie hall, I'd go.
  1:03pm
bryce:

yeah, that's right! in fact, the ondes martenot's basically a theremin without antennae — they both generate sound by heterodyning two sine waves. early ones came with a loudspeaker that had sympathetic strings stretched over the opening. totally great.
  1:05pm
Larry:

Bryce, can you tell me more about the heterodyne? Keep doing a good show.
  1:06pm
Doug in DC:

I've got this cool ondes martinot compiliation that has a composition by Lindsay Cooper, from Henry Cow: http://www.naxos.com/catalogue/item.asp?item_code=8.555779
  1:12pm
Mark:

RE: the Turangalîla-Symphonie and the ondes martenot, here is related video clip that may be of interest: http://tinyurl.com/6nfkjs . Wonderful selections Bryce. Thank you.
  1:13pm
bryce:

haha, i've been emailing that clip to friends to get them stoked about this sunday!
  1:16pm
dc pat:

ok, stop playing music so I can check out the video...
  1:23pm
dc pat:

ok Bryce, if I were to buy this, which version should I get?
  1:24pm
bryce:

YOU'RE GETTING AN ONDES MARTENOT??

can i come over?
  1:27pm
bryce:

on cd, i've only heard one by the royal concertgebouw orchestra & this one (the berliner philharmoniker). both sound great to me, tho...
  1:27pm
dc pat:

ha, if only... no the Turangalila-Symph.
  1:28pm
dc pat:

thanks.
  1:29pm
north guinea hills:

i might actually try to go to the carnegie performance.
  1:33pm
bryce:

imagine hearing this coming out of a ton of physical objects instead of a couple of paper cones.
  1:37pm
dc pat:

HEY, I'm going to see the Nutcracker performed tomorrow!!.... yeah, I know... my daughter is in the production... I wish she was performing this instead.
  1:38pm
bryce:

dude, get her an ondes martenot! SHE'LL LOVE YOU!

and i can come over.
  1:48pm
dc pat:

kind of low on the list right now. #1 is a drum set (mine got lost somewhere), then a Rickenbacker 360 v64 12, then a Dobro, and THEN the ondes martenot.
  1:54pm
Bad Ronald:

How in the hell do you lose a drum kit?
  1:56pm
dc pat:

you let your friend borrow it because he's letting you use his practice space, then he lends it to some one else, then original guy moves out of town. Actually, now that I'm thinking about it, I think my brother in law has it!!
  1:57pm
C:

THIS IS AWESOME. it's really by the same guy that did the last song?
  1:58pm
bryce:

yussir!
  1:58pm
Bad Ronald:

OK, gotcha. I've got some gear floating around that I should keep track of too. I was gonna say that must've been one hell of a gig!
  2:05pm
dc pat:

Ha! Just checked w/ bro in law--original guy still has them and he's coming back to town for Xmas...I'll lay in wait for him....
  2:12pm
OJ Simpson:

When it's time to step up and get your own goods back, I'm the guy you want to roll with -- I can help. Let me see when I'm....free.
  2:15pm
bryce:

oj, i seem to have misplaced my enriched plutonium.
if you have time.
  2:16pm
C:

Bryce, what was the name of the Asian sounding song (was it the 3rd movement of l'ascension?) Alléluia sur la tropmette, Alleluia sur la cymbale?
  2:18pm
bryce:

one of the two organ things?
  2:21pm
C:

Oh no! I just rewound and couldn't find it. It must have been music coming from a Thai website I have on in the background. Really sorry about that.
  2:22pm
bryce:

DAMN THAILAND!!!!!!
  2:24pm
Sean Daily:

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!
  2:30pm
dc pat:

bryce, you should do a show with a Stravinsky theme. His birthday is in June but...next week would be fine.
  2:42pm
Bill O'Reilly:

Oh, that's the important birthday that should get recognized in this period? So important that it should be granted an intrusive calendar relocation, Mr. Deny Christmas Pat?
  2:44pm
Parq:

C, that website could be used to stream a documentary or similar exploration of local B&D activties. The participants would be known as the Thais that bind. Okay, I'll get back to work now.
  2:45pm
stingy d:

i win! i win the whole game!
  2:48pm
Bad Ronald:

There's a restaurant in my neighborhood called "Thai Me Up".
