Wed. 12/3/08 3:56pm From: Parq

The humor in that Stew song was really meaty. Get it? Stew? Meaty? Oh, I gotta tell ya . . .

'Cile, I saw that show and don't remember that song in it.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:28pm From: Mike B.

The Queens! Oh mama!

Wed. 12/3/08 4:32pm From: Peter K.

"I'm Into Something Good" a Carole King song? Well, yes and no. Like all those other great hits she co-wrote, it's a Carole King AND GERRY GOFFIN song. Poor Gerry, who wrote the lyrics to all those songs, never gets enough credit, maybe because he never went the singer-songwriter route. (Carole did start writing her own lyrics when she went that route herself, but even then only once in a while. This is no knock on Carole King, just a statement of fact.)

As for Hannah Montana: Love the TV show, hate the music.

Grovesnor, I will tell you who I am only if you tell me who you are.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:38pm From: Laurie

I actually said, "Oh, I love this song," when I heard the intro to "Sand." And I do. This OP8 album is the best. I wish they would team up again and put another one out.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:38pm From: Irwin

damn, Grovesnor's last comment disappearitated.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:41pm From: Mac

Flashback rush. Wheesh!

Wed. 12/3/08 4:44pm From: Parq, really

Hey, I thought you said that other comment was my last.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:45pm From: Laurie

Conjecture: Irwin plays popular country for us because he secretly loathes his listeners.

Although, if I'm being perfectly honest, this Brad Paisley song isn't completely awful.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:46pm From: Parq

As always, I respectfully dissent from my fellow listeners' distaste for kickin' country.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:47pm From: GP

Parq,

Pizeace Out * taps chest flips peace sign

Did Brad just sample the Mac startup tone? This song is too funny. I read somewhere that something like 30% of people using a female screen name are actually dudes...analyze that.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:47pm From: Cecile

you lie, Laurie.
The words make me want to hit my head against my desk.
the tune and sanging is nice, though.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:48pm From: Irwin

PK, know anything about Vin Strong?

Wed. 12/3/08 4:48pm From: Laurie

Oh, come on, this marching band rendition at the end is a nice touch.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:51pm From: Cecile

I'd buy that part if it were a single by itself.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:51pm From: Lizardner Dave

Just walked back in the office and see that I missed the Star Country moment. Blast.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:52pm From: bzul

The obscure vectors of comment intention and identification are fraying the smooth linen of the show...and Brad soiled it with flat canned country punch o' the day from the factory.

Wed. 12/3/08 4:52pm From: Peter K.

Not a thing, Irwin. Know anything about Grovesnor? (By the way, that was not me who just responded. That was a fake PK.)

Wed. 12/3/08 4:54pm From: Cecile

bzul, I'm the glue that keeps this whole wacky factory together, and don't forget it.

Wed. 12/3/08 5:00pm From: Cecile

re: Winston's Fumbs ("Real Crazy Apartment") --
"It's a little ironic that Jimmy Winston, the former organ player of the Small Faces, who was kicked out right at the dawn of their recording career, went on to actually forge a sound that was far more defiantly psychedelic than that of his former buddies. Sure it was for one single only, but next to 'Real Crazy Apartment', stuff like 'Green Circles' and 'Itchycoo Park' sound like Quicksilver Messenger Service next to Black Sabbath. This song tears! Deep, rumbling production, guitar chords (Winston switched to guitar after leaving Marriott and Co.) that sound like they're coming straight out of the mouth of Beelzebub himself, scary falsetto harmonies, and such a terrifying mood. Supposedly it's just a song about the charms and seductions of a hipster apartment, but if you don't take in the lyrics word by word, you'd think it was the devil himself welcoming you to the apartment in question. "Satanic psychedelia", eh? Something like that. Okay, so it's certainly very tame by the Stooges' standards, but still the sound is quite unique for 1967, which is a pretty big compliment given that in 1967, "unique" was almost casual." http://starling.rinet.ru/music/nuggets.htm#Winston
