Mon. 11/24/08 12:46pm From: pat radio

I taught high school back during the "Spuds Mackenzie" days. Kids weren't allowed to wear Spuds shirts to school because they promoted alcohol use.

Mon. 11/24/08 12:47pm From: Ike

Spuds MacKenzie?! Yeah, when a dog tells me to drink crappy beer, I *always* listen! Psych.

Mon. 11/24/08 12:48pm From: Joe

It must've worked, as I'm only aware of Spuds Mackenzie through his Futurama parody, Slurms Mackenzie.

Mon. 11/24/08 12:49pm From: GP

I want a shirt with Spuds on the front, Joe the Camel on the back...those should be a big hit with the PTA

Mon. 11/24/08 12:50pm From: annie

my kid got kicked out of school for the day when he wore his ghost in the machine tee

Mon. 11/24/08 12:51pm From: pat radio

a fellow teacher had to point out the penis on joe camel's face to me. I'm not quick with the subliminal messages.

Mon. 11/24/08 12:51pm From: Bad Diane

Annie - The Police? on what grounds?

Mon. 11/24/08 12:51pm From: uncle lonely

the police record?!!!

Mon. 11/24/08 12:53pm From: GP

Pat Radio said what?

Mon. 11/24/08 12:53pm From: annie

well, it was a logo from an anime film, maybe it was ghost in the shell? anyway it was the top half of a woman's body, no shirt.. just enough to suggest.....

Mon. 11/24/08 12:54pm From: Parq

If it's Spuds parodies ya like, dig up some of the late 80s exemplars of Bloom County, in which Spuds came out as a girl-dog, shortly after joining the cast of regulars. (Memorable line, to Opus: "Sure you don't wanna beer Otis? Flushes out the system like Ty-D-Bowl.")

Mon. 11/24/08 12:55pm From: dc diane

nice, you should find one of those boob t-shirts that the Pistols use to wear for him next.

Mon. 11/24/08 12:56pm From: Joe

We had a similar issue at our high school with retro G.I. Joe t-shirts with guns on them. The admin. wouldn't budge, even after we pointed out that they were laser guns, only used to shoot bad guy robots and drug dealers.

Mon. 11/24/08 12:56pm From: annie

actually i liked the te very much, the school thought it was porn.. what did they know? dc diane, he is 25 now, old enough to speak out ....

Mon. 11/24/08 12:56pm From: uncle lonely

Mon. 11/24/08 12:57pm From: Bad Ronald

Mon. 11/24/08 12:59pm From: uncle diane

Mon. 11/24/08 1:00pm From: Bad Diane

Was in the loo. Now I'm back!

Mon. 11/24/08 1:00pm From: annie

Mon. 11/24/08 1:00pm From: dc lonely

where do you get one of those boob t-shirts?

Mon. 11/24/08 1:02pm From: Bad Diane

I wore my "If it Ain't Stiff it Ain't Worth a Fuck" T to piss off the man. It worked.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:03pm From: Doug from DC

That man. He has no sense of humor.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:04pm From: dc uncle

that's another good one. That'd probably be grounds for paddling in school.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:04pm From: Cecile

eh, high school.
I might have to go to an all-class reunion to get a body count out of morbid curiousity next year.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:04pm From: Bad Diane

Hey Doug! - Great show last night, thanks for playing Sex Toy!

Mon. 11/24/08 1:05pm From: hand shot records vp

Mon. 11/24/08 1:05pm From: uncle lonely

Mon. 11/24/08 1:05pm From: dc diane

Hey dc doug, how'd that show on Friday go? I wanted to get there...but, uh..well...you know...

Mon. 11/24/08 1:06pm From: annie

and it's okay to promote the violence of football and sexism from cheerleading.. what classism it was..

Mon. 11/24/08 1:06pm From: GP

pat radio, that is some messed up stuff. I always thought that artwork was terrible, but now I see it is subliminally weird too.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:06pm From: Diane from DC

That's a fun track Bad Diane! Hope some people were listening.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:07pm From: Joe

Talking out of turn, that's a paddlin'
Looking out the window, that's a paddlin'
Starin' at my sandals, that's a paddlin'
Paddlin' the school canoe...

Mon. 11/24/08 1:07pm From: Bad Diane

Me and Billy from Philly (the lead guit) were!

Mon. 11/24/08 1:09pm From: Doug from DC

Awesome show. Tim Kaiser's electronics are really brilliantly done. Bent circuits, parts of children's toys and bowed metal instruments with built-in pickups. He has a CD-R release in a 4" film cannister, like the PiL metal box reissue.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:09pm From: uncle lonely

this diane columbia song is fresh out the toaster!

Mon. 11/24/08 1:09pm From: annie

doug, i agree, i'm hyped up.. like nixon on drugs

Mon. 11/24/08 1:11pm From: dc diane

wow, sounds great. That Paul Metzger's stuff is amazing.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:13pm From: Bad Diane

Anyone check out the new Firemen release "Electric Arguments"? It's actually pretty good. I wonder if Diane Belock will play a track tomorrow...

Mon. 11/24/08 1:13pm From: uncle lonely

this is a cold move diane berg. don't do this anymore.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:13pm From: Cecile

I love Paul Metzger, a truly great, unique guy.

OKAY - now I need to hear Cars that Go Boom...

Mon. 11/24/08 1:14pm From: gerardo

hooola, liiiiiz!, tanto tiempo

tuning back in "real time" at last

("growing pains", i watched this sitcom for a year! - first time i hear the titles song in full)

Mon. 11/24/08 1:14pm From: Diane from DC

Yeah, the 18 string banjo was something to see, expecially when he bowed it. And his modified guitar is fretless. Both performances were interesting visually as well as musically, just seeing these instruments being played was a trip.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:14pm From: 1mckrs

This was on TV? Wow. Bad even for TV.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:15pm From: jeremy, the listener

LB love this show.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:15pm From: dc pat

Mon. 11/24/08 1:16pm From: Cecile

Mon. 11/24/08 1:20pm From: annie

cecile i checked out and tagged for fun those bands..front porch..liquor pigs and spider john koerner.. what fun they are!! a real hoot.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:20pm From: Cecile

ok, why does the Bulb label sound familiar to me?

Annie, they are great. I've missed it a couple of years, but they usually play a spring outdoor fest and a great time is had by all.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:21pm From: uncle diane

Mon. 11/24/08 1:21pm From: annie

Mon. 11/24/08 1:34pm From: samuel

just tuned in- any word on when red dawn II plays?

Mon. 11/24/08 1:36pm From: Petri

Hi, I´ve got the original bass guitar of this great finnish punk band, but is in the pawn shop...

Mon. 11/24/08 1:36pm From: Bad Diane

That's right Annie - I wrote a thesis once proposing that that was one of the most "Pop" events of our history... or something like that.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:38pm From: annie

BD- yeah, one of the first to awaken our senses of current events.. relating it to our own reality. i was 11

Mon. 11/24/08 1:39pm From: Joe

If the JFK assassination was pop... I guess you could call the Ford attempts Punk. High profile, but ultimately a failure.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:39pm From: annie

joe, word up. yeah

Mon. 11/24/08 1:40pm From: Bad Diane

I like that Joe! Whattabout Regan?

Mon. 11/24/08 1:40pm From: Petri

Hi again, I live now in the Tampere, Finland, and this great finnish rock band Eppu Normaali is from here, still kicking..

Mon. 11/24/08 1:42pm From: Joe

I'm tempted to say hip-hop, because there were a bunch of innocent bystanders. The iraqi attempt on Bush attempt can be post-punk, because it was extremely influential later, but not alot of people knew about it at the time.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:44pm From: Cecile

Well, I'm biased because I lived at the time and also kind of liked Ford but punk/Ford:
misunderstood at the time, more solid than believed, and its time was far too short.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:45pm From: north guinea hills

i've been busy at work, and missed everythingdid i hear the awesome color kids were in? if so, here's a big hello and hug for michael and allison!

Mon. 11/24/08 1:47pm From: Joe

Punk and Ford: Clumsy and fun!

Mon. 11/24/08 1:55pm From: Bad Diane

Mon. 11/24/08 1:57pm From: fishmonkeystew

Now this is the kind of band I wanna start here in Northeast CT. Anyone interested? Anyone from NE CT even here?

Mon. 11/24/08 1:59pm From: Joe

CT is a little small to be sectioning up into quadrants, there, Mr. FMS.

Mon. 11/24/08 1:59pm From: GP

Drums sound great!

Mon. 11/24/08 2:00pm From: dc diane

As a long time CT resident, I can assure you that the four corners of CT are so different from each other that there is no option but to divvy it up into pieces.

Mon. 11/24/08 2:35pm From: dc diane

I was wondering about ol' Diane earlier

Man, Diane Berg, don't you have anything harder?

Mon. 11/24/08 2:38pm From: marty
