Sat. 11/15/08 4:45am From: larry

Good morning Bill, from Ireland. Your music is setting me up for a day full of nightmares. Great!

Sat. 11/15/08 4:49am From: Bill Mac

Hey Larry...
so long as they're good nightmares.... I feel compelled to ask you about your favorite Irish music, you know, since you're over there....

Sat. 11/15/08 4:59am From: larry

Hi Bill, yes good melancholic Irish nightmares. Favorite Irish music? Why do you think I listen to WFMU? Pierce Turner is about it for me. The rest all sounds the same. And Pierce gets to spend half the year in NY too. So maybe that's why he's so good.

Sat. 11/15/08 5:13am From: Bill Mac

I'm always hoping to find I'm on the same page with folks that are directly tapped into to their own environments thing. I've always really liked some of the older Horslips material. We'd go see them every time they came through Philadelphia back in the 70s....

Sat. 11/15/08 5:14am From: larry

Ah yes, the sun will have to shine through those clouds now with BJ singing. Great song too

Sat. 11/15/08 5:16am From: Bill Mac

Talk about a tune that's totally wrapped in the fabric of my life....

Sat. 11/15/08 5:24am From: larry

Oh yes, Horslips. Brilliant. And Planxty too. What you're missing is the transformation that has taken place here in the past ten years socially. We've become too 'sophisticated' for the simple magic of Horslips. Plus, it reminds us of where we came from. We lost a lot of our Irishness when the money began rolling in. Now, we're just like all the other rich nations. Sold our souls we did.

Sat. 11/15/08 5:29am From: Bill Mac

I hear you Larry, but it was probably unavoidable. The sad thing is that you can sell your soul over and over again...

Sat. 11/15/08 5:34am From: larry

Yes, you can. But we've just run out of money. The Celtic TIger hangover has just begun. But it'll be interesting to see what comes out of it musically. The last time it was Horslips, U2, and very early THin Lizzy. We're a very small country so if you make it outside of Ireland you'll always be a hero back home, not matter how you make it.

Sat. 11/15/08 5:40am From: Pat

our capitalistic governments and our own search for the almighty dollar regardless of who it hurts has screwed us all

Sat. 11/15/08 5:41am From: larry

No, but your music is making sense, even at such a late hour for you. Thanks for the brain kickstart today as always. I'm now awake, alive.

Sat. 11/15/08 5:43am From: larry

You're right Pat, But I love the downside. Try growing up in 70's and 80's Ireland and you would too.Things can only get better. I think!

Sat. 11/15/08 5:44am From: Bill Mac

Thanks fellas..... stay optimistic!!!!

Sat. 11/15/08 5:52am From: Pat

Larry, all countries and their peoples have a right to a better life. ... just got to things responsibly. Here in USA we've fucked up big time

Sat. 11/15/08 5:54am From: Pat

P.S. and it's not the first time ... i think we'll never learn

Sat. 11/15/08 5:55am From: Bill Mac

Here here Pat.... it amazes me what people try to get away with anymore....

Sat. 11/15/08 5:59am From: larry

You messed up big time Pat, cos you're a big country. We messed up small time etc. We're all in it together now, though. No jumping ship!!!

Sat. 11/15/08 6:01am From: Pat

don't get me wrong i do believe the majority of people are good ... as usual it's only the few that ruin it for the rest

Sat. 11/15/08 6:04am From: larry

I agree Pat. It's the same everywhere. Good luck with Obama. Thanks Bill for music today

Mon. 11/17/08 8:22am From: Bill Mac

Thanks to both of you guys for keeping me company during the wee wee hours.....
