Sean Daily:

Were these Japanese albums originally released in Japan or the U.S.? Cos I could see these being released here, if only for their novelty value.
  7:27pm
Joe:

Yes, these are all from Japan--the labels say so!
  7:29pm
Sean Daily:

Well, wherever and whenever they were released, they're pretty tight. Gotta add 'em to my long music shopping list.

This "Teichiku" song title: "Tan-kou-bushi," "(Mitsui) Coal Mine Song." Popular drinking tune, from Kita-Kyushu. Something about two people... causing the tree to shake. The modest moon pretends not to see them. Great stuff.
  7:34pm
Sean Daily:

"Causing the tree to shake"? DAMN but they're gettin' into it.

Mark:

The MIsora Hibari Song is called "Kappa Boogie Woogie". 'Kappa' is a kind of Fairy or Spirit originated from Japanese Tradition.

By the way, do you have some Korean recordings? it will be nice to hear them here.

Leo:

Soba Song writer was my uncle Bobby Norton (deceased) Herecrded this and another song in Japan for columia records, I have the insert with his picture on it and the lyrics. Later Hibari Misora recorded it. I also have the copy of the payment made to him for the rights.
