Listener comments!

  12:02pm
SmokinJ:

OMIGOD! It's Liz Berg! 8-)
  12:11pm
Liz B.:

OMG, it's SmokinJ and anyone else out there. Welcome to another Monday full of disasters and fun noises!
  12:12pm
SmokinJ:

Thank You! I feel welcome:)
  12:13pm
dei x:

I dunno Liz, you've already stated that you're not on the comix side of the fence, and Ben set the accuplaylist bar pretty high...
  12:15pm
HotRod:

This SI track sounds great!
  12:15pm
Liz B.:

I am the Monday underachiever. Between Ben and Irene, how can a girl possibly compete?
  12:17pm
Bad Ronald:

I am still revcovering from the entire Pecan Sandy dilemma. I think I need a quick constitutional too...
  12:19pm
tommy:

is anyone else's player not updating the song info?
  12:22pm
efd:

Tommy, yes - i was just about to post about that (and now I am). My WinAmp still says "Benjamen Walker's Theory of Everything"
  12:23pm
Sean Daily:

Is it just me, or does Wire sound like what a Dalek punk band would sound like?
  12:28pm
Ike:

HA! Daleks do not play punk music. Daleks exterminate punks! Anyway, wouldn't all the lyrics be about exterminating all other races in the universe, and blowing up planets?

Consider yourself lucky that you still have access to the beautiful, beautiful Winamp. They've got me on a new computer at work and I can't install squat, not even Flash. Ugh... hello, tinny Windows Media stream.
  12:31pm
marty:

portland! sends a hello
  12:31pm
dei x:

Ike, try Foobar2000
  12:38pm
Ike:

Dei X, you are awesome! This actually installed (once I unchecked the virus protection option)! BRILLIANT!

Now I get to hear the awesome "Suffering Jukebox" song at 128k! Hooray! Woo hoo! Foobar2000 is the savior of beaten-down office workers everywhere!
  12:41pm
efd:

in an unrelated development (...or IS IT??), my WinAmp song titles are now updating.
  12:42pm
SmokinJ:

The Liz train rolls on...
  12:43pm
dei x:

don't thank me, thank FMU! Foobar seems to be the most trouble-less, based on previous broadcast futzs.
  12:45pm
ergal thema:

Wow, this is awesome. I'm archiving at work, so I can listen to internet radio, guilt-free. Makes me wish I could archive more often. This will definitely be my station of choice from now on. Been a 365-days fan for a while, gotta find a way to hear more WFMU. Anyway, thanks for exposing all this interesting music!
  12:53pm
RagnarR in SF Bay:

Whoa, this Pappo's Blues is awesome! The guitars are so fiery and fuzzy. Rockin' goodness!
  12:55pm
Liz B.:

Yeah, Pappo is awesome, he's a legend in Argentina, tons of great albums. Wikipedia has a pretty decent page about him.
  12:58pm
Ike:

I've used Foobar2000 at home to convert files, but I had no idea you could successfully install it on a totally locked-down computer. Could it be specifically designed for that purpose? Or maybe it's just because it's so basic and low-memory-usage.

Oooh, Nigerian fuzz funk!
  1:12pm
HotRod:

ROBOTA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  1:26pm
James:

I saw meth teeth the other day...they are rad...when are they going on?
  1:28pm
Liz B.:

Meth Teeth are coming up soon, sound check is in progress as I type.
  1:31pm
James:

sweet...like I said I saw them saturday night and they were good. I should've bought some records. hooray for second chances (to hear them...)
  1:36pm
Sean Daily:

Nurse with Wound is filling the hole in my soul.
  1:43pm
HotRod:

Meth Teeth sound wonderful so far!
  1:46pm
John:

I saw them Saturday too. Rad sounds
  1:47pm
listener jeremy:

note to self... don't google image meth teeth...
  1:50pm
Dead Corporate Eyes:

pretty sure they're headed to Cleveland soon...will definitely check them out.
  1:50pm
Daniel:

I suspect Meth Teeth might have chosen their name so as to guarantee horrifying image results whenever anyone Googles them.
  2:00pm
Kenzo:

So, live song information wasn't displaying in Winamp, and then later it started? Inquiring minds want a lot more details. Clutter up Liz's playlist by posting the details here, or, more politely, send 'em here:
http://wfmu.org/email.php?id=28
  2:06pm
Bad Ronald:

Diggin the Sic Alps tune Thanks Liz!
  2:07pm
Liz B.:

Kenzo, it was an issue that Ken dealt with. I'm not blaming him or anything...
  2:07pm
Tom (The Bactrian Support Network):

Thinking Hot Tuna now - ** Hot Jelly Roll Blues** oh there goes my diet haha...
  2:26pm
C:

I saw Nomo last week and I can't recommend them highly enough. All around incredible show.
  2:43pm
RagnarR in SF Bay:

Liz - What's the xylophone-y instrumental you're using as the sound bed? I've heard it before but I forget who does it. Thanks.
  2:45pm
Liz B.:

Hi RagnarR, the bed music is "Catnip" by Twink. You can download it on his website twink.net, lots of fun toy piano music.
  2:48pm
fred:

Kenzo, I didn't experience that particular issue. I tuned in at about 12:15 and definitely got Liz scrolling in winamp. I can't tell from about 1pm to 2pm, but getting Ben's name never happened for me. Cache/timestamp issue related to stream switching?
By the way, I'm so grateful for all you did for the station and for me over all these years. Many, many thanks Kenzo, you rule! (another last ever fill-in would be much appreciated, btw)
  3:01pm
Kenzo:

Fear not...someone had accidentally turned something off at the station, and same person turned it back on!
