Listener comments!

  9:10pm
mary:

Another Phil Glass throwaway. Yuck.
  9:15pm
bethany:

I gotta disagree with that...but what about you, out there, what do you think?
  9:19pm
molerat:

Worked for me, and the transition to the next track was nice.
  9:21pm
reid:

has anyone heard of parts and labor, that last song with the therimin sounded exactly like one of their songs
  9:22pm
bethany:

the man behind that track, dan friel, is a member of Parts & Labor...good ears.
  9:23pm
john:

The Glass didn't do much for me, could someone who was paying more attention speculate on the smilarity in the title to a set of pieces by Satie, which I'd translate Three Pieces In The Shape of a Pear?

Loved the Isan, though.
  9:30pm
ryan:

Listened to Nagisa Ni Te and Maher Shalal Hash Baz all this week. Tenniscoats! Perfect.
  9:33pm
bartelby:

the show is great so far, but if I don't go out to the store and my cat gets only dry food tonight there will be serious trouble
  9:41pm
mminEP:

Senor Flynt is amazing.....first heard him a few years ago (on FMU of course). what cd is this from?
  10:06pm
listener Carl:

always the great end to a weekend
  10:53pm
dave:

great set! i really like the last 3 pieces and how they work together.
  10:57pm
dave:

.. and wow, the "musica per un anno" set is a serious new lust object for me. looks like a great collection.
  11:07pm
john:

Dang, sorry I missed the lead-in to the Satie...archive ahoy!
  11:10pm
Kyle:

I love the show as always
  11:10pm
Snortley:

So who's the pianist?
  11:19pm
bethany:

The pianists are Dominique Merlet & Jean-Pierre Armengaud
  11:20pm
Snortley:

Thanks, Bethany. Rather percussive delivery.
  11:25pm
drew:

Satie was a big influence on none other than Frank Zappa. The version I grew up listening to is by Aldo Ciccolini on EMI. Great show!
  11:44pm
Madvig:

what does "stochastic" mean?
  11:48pm
dave:

a stochastic process is one which is random, or nondeterministic.
  11:54pm
bethany:

The show title "Stochastic Hit Parade" is a tip of the hat to free form radio (as in random) and to composers like Xenakis who created stochastic music using computer algorithms.
  10:21am
guestt:

This Phil Glass piece is from a time when Glass still was innovative! Monsieur Bayle's Eros Bleu is part of a master work in electroacoustic music: Erosphere. It's about the attraction of sounds.
