Playlist for This Is the Modern World with Trouble - May 15, 2008

Thursdays 9am - Noon on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

Thu. 5/15/08 10:40am From: Derek

Thu. 5/15/08 10:42am From: Cecile

Me, too!

Thu. 5/15/08 10:43am From: matt perkeberf

Is adolf noise's album really called 'my favborite things' or is that a typo (sometimes it's hard to figure out w/trouble)

Thu. 5/15/08 10:44am From: lafaro61

Very charming title!

Thu. 5/15/08 10:44am From: dc pat

that cliff calisle was amazing. I'm going to a national chain and buy that album.

Thu. 5/15/08 10:45am From: Ken

Trouble has finally given in and has restored the comment box. 'Twas creepy comments that compelled her to take it down before, Hat's off to her for the second chance!

Thu. 5/15/08 10:45am From: Zorba

Trouble, this music is making me forget all my troubles.
Thanks

Thu. 5/15/08 10:48am From: jorge

bon soir trouble, hellos from spain from this peruvian guy

Thu. 5/15/08 10:49am From: Derek

Creepy comments? I'm really curious now. Everytime I've been here, it's been normal.

Thu. 5/15/08 10:50am From: Cecile

Oh, who would give Trouble trouble?

Thu. 5/15/08 10:53am From: jorge

so nice to listened to East river pipe today, that guy and his music is brilliant, hope to listen to a new record soon

Thu. 5/15/08 10:54am From: Pea

Trouble only brings joy here, and glorious sounds I'd never hear anywhere else.
Thanks :-)

Thu. 5/15/08 10:56am From: kent goldings

I was here the last day for Trouble's previous comment board... the comments were creepy indeed. Here's hoping she has better luck this time around!

Trouble- thanks for all the amazing music today and every Thursday!

Thu. 5/15/08 10:57am From: jorge

what kind of idiot will make simple math operations just to post something stupid here?, god what a shame

Thu. 5/15/08 11:00am From: K.

WFMU ist die besten Rundfunk des Amerikas!!!

Thu. 5/15/08 11:02am From: bert kaempfert

Thu. 5/15/08 11:03am From: m

Thu. 5/15/08 11:07am From: Patrick

i have no spelling skills! or grammer skills but thats not gonna stop me.

im glad you got a comments page!!

Thu. 5/15/08 11:07am From: Parq

Golly, I was so deeply immersed in work that I didn't even look until Ms. T mentioned it on the air. Be it known, this is a creep-free zone. All hail Francoise Hardy, Nina Simone and all our friends.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:08am From: jojo

luxury is a big fat fat fat man smiling, so ugly and bad, but you can't do anything about it....

Thu. 5/15/08 11:08am From: Tom

Fuzzy fuzz... I like MVEE!

Thu. 5/15/08 11:09am From: Rococo Pagoda

Bring back the loons! Their calls were funny and cosmic at the same time. Plus, what could be more appropriate for bringing back the comments than having a chorus of loons?

Thu. 5/15/08 11:10am From: jorge

you have to check out Primavera Sound festival line up guys, MVEE will play there by the way, the problem? is in spain..

Thu. 5/15/08 11:10am From: jamesie

Glad you had the nerve to let all us creepy people post messages - hooray.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:14am From: Tom

Yeah Jorge, Primavera looks good. I wish I was in Spain... Träd, Gräs och Stenar would be cool to check out as well.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:14am From: Listener Dave from NH

The loons are good and all, but I'm all about the peepers. (even if they're not birds) I hear them bunches on my evening bike rides when I go by ponds and I love the heck out of them - they sound like springtime to me.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:16am From: Jorge

Yeah tom tons of great bands playing there, will try to be early there to check TRGR och cause i really like those guys.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:19am From: GUMBY

Dave from NH - Love the peepers too, alas they are past here in Jersey. and the loons left a month ago. But soon it will be catch the blue claw crabs time

Thu. 5/15/08 11:23am From: toby

Hurray for dub music! Thanks for this. Love the Vivian Jackson recordings especially. His Michael Prophet productions are my favorite.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:33am From: dc pat

I saw a cedar wax wing sitting in an alley here in our Nation's Crapital last week. I thought it was hurt, touched its back, and it flew away. amazing birds.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:36am From: Shiona

Ello Trouble, my dad (Jamesie) just gave me that little tote with the guitar on it that you gave him. I guess pink isn't his colour. I'm well chuffed.

Never heard Simone White before. Man, she sings pretty.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:39am From: Adrian in London

We've recently been getting woken up at 4am by the birds tweeting away. And we have parakeets in the trees near my flat, it's very exotic!

Thu. 5/15/08 11:39am From: GUMBY

cedar wax wings are nice, saw a Baltimore oriole last week, very uplifting. Tis the season for visual bird feasting.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:57am From: Barney

A couple of winters ago up here in NH, our house got dive-bombed by a bunch of waxwings who were getting loaded off of old fermented crabapples and other aged tree fruits. Funny birds.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:58am From: mark

the john cale cut was phenomenal!!! any idea where i can get it? thanks so much.

Thu. 5/15/08 11:59am From: Parq

NYC, see? I have to make do with morning (mourning?) doves in the fire escape across the airshaft from my kitchenette. It's nicer than you might think.

Thu. 5/15/08 12:00pm From: Parker

I need to pick up one of the many box sets Trojan puts out. Every time I listen to your show Trouble, you make my decision so much more difficult!!

Thu. 5/15/08 5:07pm From: trouble

thanks everyone for a great opening day with comments! answers to questions: the adolf noise is from a compilation named my favorite things. And the john cale/lcd sound system i think i found on the culture bully site. i was looking for another mash-up and stumbled onto it that way.

Thu. 5/15/08 6:49pm From: mike tp

how come noone chimes in after the show is over. loved juttahipp. never heard of her. later the goombah of soul

Fri. 5/16/08 2:29pm From: Howling Rabbit

Actually, I liked the Led Zeppelin cut. And you, of course, I'm assuming are not under any pressure to play music that you don't want to play.
