Tue. 1/22/08 9:24am From: dei xhrist

good morning hatch.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:26am From: Mort

I can get political hate radio on AM. I tune in here for the music. Play it, and quit your crying.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:28am From: Hatch

Political hate radio??!?

Tue. 1/22/08 9:34am From: Bob Grant

Did someone say "political hate radio?" Is there a job opening for me on WFMU? Now "that" would be free-form.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:35am From: Hatch

Sorry Bob, I'm already the Rush Limbaugh of WFMU. Apparently.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:36am From: Dickdong (UK)

Keep up the politics, Hatch. It is your solemn duty to make sure your fellow Americans get it right this time.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:40am From: Cecile

Wha?!?!?!?!

Tue. 1/22/08 9:48am From: dei x

I was just curiously cruising about to see if there was any online commentary about Stormwatch support of R Paul and the KKK march in Jena yesterday. I didn't see any, but I didn't delve too deep. All the other chats end up in hollering and accusations, changing from a political discussion to a schoolyard fight.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:50am From: dei x

On another note, my book to start reading at lunch is Zinn's People's History of the US. I really hope it lives up to its reputation as more exploratory than all the history books in school.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:53am From: Listener Dave from NH

I don't know that it's more exploratory than other history books, but it certainly takes a different stance on a lot of subjects than others do, replacing the hagiographical treatment of the founding fathers by putting them into perspective as extraordinarily rich men who got richer by the suffering of others.
It's a good book, but depressing to see the brutality of our country laid bare.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:56am From: philthy

Enjoy the Zinn book. It's eye-opening and a unique perspective on American history. My only complaint is that it tries to emcompass so much in a fairly short volume. Still, it's a good introduction to US history and well-annotated.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:57am From: dei x

Can you-all recommend add'l titles? Just finished Lies My Teacher Told Me so I'm looking for stuff that puts events in context. I do have Underside of American History and What If 2.

Tue. 1/22/08 9:57am From: Sarah

I am glad you express your opinions.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:00am From: Mike

best song

Tue. 1/22/08 10:00am From: Daniel

I'm divided about the primaries, love to hear opinions about all of it, especially with the great music. Gets my neurons firing. . .

Tue. 1/22/08 10:01am From: Lang

Hey Mort
Go listen to the am then.
Hatch does play music !!!
I can get hate comments elsewhere on the net, I don't need to see them in this comment page!
LANG

Tue. 1/22/08 10:04am From: Roy

I love the "shut up with the politics and just play music" angle -- As if the personal and the political were in any way separate from one another. Keep on, Hatch!

Tue. 1/22/08 10:06am From: Chance From That Third World Country, Maine

When you goto the polls this year, think of only one name-

Tue. 1/22/08 10:07am From: dei x

What about Zatumba?

Tue. 1/22/08 10:08am From: Chance From That Third World Country, Maine

I haven't heard a clear platform from Zatumba.. Care to enlighten me?

Tue. 1/22/08 10:09am From: Mort

My bad. You are right. I listen and pledge so I can escape the spittle and cheese to go free-form. I see there is no escape. Rant away.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:10am From: Cecile

America Revised by Frances...something or other. I'll look it up. A very good book.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:14am From: Cecile

Tue. 1/22/08 10:14am From: Hatch

Listen to Ken's Christmas show in the archives, Zatumba's platform is explained quite thoroughly.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:14am From: Chance From That Third World Country, Maine

Mort, you can always use RSS to listen to music from the web. It works decently for me. Only after I have exhausted Pitchfork, Stereogum, Les Concerts A Emporter, and others do I come and listen to WFMU.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:16am From: Hatch

We come AFTER Stereogum? Ouch, that hurts.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:18am From: Chance From That Third World Country, Maine

Feels like George Dubya's 3rd term..

Tue. 1/22/08 10:31am From: Tom

C'mon, more hate!

Tue. 1/22/08 10:32am From: Hate Monger

Don't worry, I'll bring the hate again later in the show.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:34am From: Cecile

I'll bring the potato salad.

The revolution will not be televised, but I believe that the audio will be available over these very airwaves.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:38am From: Cecile

Hey, I like Edan's recipe. But he needs more mayo.

Tue. 1/22/08 10:39am From: Listener Dave from NH

I love the hell out of "Beauty and the Beat."
I've heard Noah playing some tracks from Edan that I think are new but I've still got no idea when he's dropping a newfangled album.

Wed. 1/23/08 9:28am From: Larry gomez

Did you play some incredibly funky, abstract, acoustic music from Scotland (late 70's) yesterday around Noon? Please tell me who they were? Please! They were unbelievable! I would be so grateful!
Larry
