Mon. 12/10/07 9:11am From: Kosta

Hey Liz, wondering if you'll be following Fantastic Plastic machine with some early POLYSICS?

Mon. 12/10/07 9:13am From: Liz B.

Good idea, Kosta! I can't grab it now, but I'll try to toss in some Polysics a bit later in the show.

Mon. 12/10/07 9:18am From: Kosta

Mon. 12/10/07 9:34am From: lonnie

do you have any info on damo's "network"? he's collaborated with so many folks over the years it's hard to keep track of. the cul de sac collab is still my favorite

Happy Festivus, sabrina

Mon. 12/10/07 9:41am From: Liz B.

Damo's Network is Mandjau Fati, Thomas Hopf, Michael Karoli, and Alex Schonert, and the tune was recorded live in Seattle in 1998.

Mon. 12/10/07 9:42am From: Parq

Liz, that was a great unintentional (or do I underestimate you?) holiday reference -- "A Child's Christmas in a Wales Recording Studio".

Mon. 12/10/07 9:44am From: lonnie

thanks for the tip kosta - i'm always looking for something like that covering the more obscure - and thanks for taking the time out of your busy morning for the info liz.

Mon. 12/10/07 9:49am From: Kosta

No worries - im just happy to be listening to the greatest radio show on this earthly earth! Liz B, airwave supremo!

Mon. 12/10/07 9:50am From: Liz B.

Purely unintentional. In fact, I have, like, no earthly idea what you are talking about, Parq.

Mon. 12/10/07 10:05am From: Steev

Hi, Liz: Did I hear right--there's going to be an interview with Galt MacDermot? Could you tell me when? (Sorry for not paying attention, but sometimes work gets in the way.)
Thanks!

Mon. 12/10/07 10:06am From: Liz B.

Steev, Michael Shelley will be chatting with Galt MacDermott this Saturday, December 15th, 10am - 1pm.

Mon. 12/10/07 10:23am From: Death to Math

Love your show Liz. These math questions are too hard for me.

Mon. 12/10/07 10:30am From: Kosta

eroc/tivol back to back was a nice touch

Mon. 12/10/07 10:33am From: Liz B.

Thanks for the holiday wishes, I'll be spending the solstice sacrificing babies to pagan deities, and then for x-mas I'll bring my sleeping bag and camp out at Macy's so that I have front row seats to Gift Exchange Battle 07.

Mon. 12/10/07 10:41am From: Wes

Speaking of pagan deities, is "the grove" the big camp in northern cali where all the nation's politicians, corporate types, and media moguls gather to get wasted and worship molech? Or...just the "oak trees" in general? Gather round ye olde oak trees and hold hands yadda yadda yay...

Mon. 12/10/07 11:03am From: Wes

Just saw water-cooler girl....man is she looking sweet today. Glad she came by to see me, just the pick me up I needed. Could give a guy a reason to live on in this crazy world..

Mon. 12/10/07 11:05am From: kosta

speaking of crazy worlds, i was just discussing that with my colleagues - i think i'll wait until im burnt out then go and meditate somewhere warm - thus avoiding this crazy world!

Mon. 12/10/07 11:06am From: Parq

Still in yr corner, W.

Mon. 12/10/07 11:10am From: Wes

Sounds like the daily routine, kosta...but I know what you mean. A boat and a map, because it's hard to find a beach that isn't patrolled by someone with a badge looking to make a buck (or worse)

Mon. 12/10/07 11:14am From: Wes

Thanks Parq. Good things are in store come January.

Mon. 12/10/07 11:20am From: kosta

Hey Liz, thanks for POLYSICS!!!!

Mon. 12/10/07 11:20am From: Chuck

Lovin' your show from Portland, Oregon

Mon. 12/10/07 11:25am From: gerardo

hi, liz, (hi wes, hi everyone)

enjoying the show, rockin' it up - and glad to see Congreso's Grabación 1963 on the playlist!

(have some new stuff coming soon ;) )

Mon. 12/10/07 11:34am From: ?

wow!

cool, liz!

there's something even cooler than listening to this song - watching peña perfoming it. He just stands and delivers this rant, almost motionless. And the vocals fades are not fades really - he just moves his head to the left, to the right, and across!

(btw, is water cooler girl around, wes?)

Mon. 12/10/07 11:35am From: gerardo

sorry, missed writing my name again ;)

Mon. 12/10/07 11:40am From: Mark Williams

no luck finding any info on this Dinamite label so far. Got me a clue? This track is infectious.

Mon. 12/10/07 11:40am From: north guinea hills

i love that name, water cooler girl, if she only had some sort of super powers.....

Mon. 12/10/07 11:42am From: Liz B.

Mark, my bad, it's actually Dinamyte (try dinamyte.com)!

Mon. 12/10/07 11:46am From: gerardo

"water cooler girl"...

sounds like a song title ... maybe ir's time to write one - she may have super powers in it ;)

(glad you played cynthia's piece, liz - sounded great. this stimulates me even more to look for new stuff)

Mon. 12/10/07 11:46am From: Wes

She has the power to make an otherwise articulate orator become a bumbling fool but I'm workin on that

Mon. 12/10/07 11:47am From: north guinea hills

so wes, what's her super hero costume?

Mon. 12/10/07 11:48am From: gerardo

right, wes

that's a super power they sure have ;) - lol

Mon. 12/10/07 11:49am From: Wes

Yes she's still around Gerardo...talked to her TWICE so far today. All is well. Going to let the 'holidays' pass and then get back on that mission in January. Thanks :)

Mon. 12/10/07 11:53am From: north guinea hills

thanks for playing charles cohen. he's a standup gentleman. we had a party a few years ago where he was supposed to play in brooklyn and he drove from philly in a blizzard for a show that would only pay maybe $20 and a few beers. awesome dedication.

Mon. 12/10/07 11:54am From: Wes

ngh...all black leather tights, not unlike catwoman, but with more of a biker edge. I'm only imagining of course, her costume is mostt days is a black business suit, high heels, hair pulled back.

Mon. 12/10/07 11:57am From: north guinea hills

wes,..... nice.....

Mon. 12/10/07 11:57am From: Archmo

is that transition music a hook from petula clark?

Mon. 12/10/07 11:57am From: gerardo

great, wes - and a nice strategy that one you mentioned - holidays give time to rest and prepare speeches and cues to avoid bumbling

btw, we have clothes, we have s super power... the song is writing by itself...

(rude mechanical orchestra is awesome, liz! - never heard them before... i guess the song is pronounced / koseetché/ )

Mon. 12/10/07 11:59am From: Sean Daily

Not even close to first comment! Woo hoo!

Wed. 12/19/07 7:12pm From: damova

gerardo: the RMO song is pronounced KO shee tseh

Wed. 12/19/07 7:55pm From: damova

Kosice is a city in Slovakia

Tue. 1/22/08 7:51pm From: gerardo

thanks very much, damova. nothing compares to learning day by day ;)

Wed. 2/20/08 1:49pm From: damova

gerardo: you are so right.
