Sean Daily:

First comment! Woo hoo!
  3:15pm
Wes:

You always start out your show with something amazing, Irene. Courting Autumn was splendid, sounds like what David Gilmour has been putting out lately, simple, beautiful melodies.
  3:23pm
Irene:

Thanks Wes! Sometimes I'm never quite sure what to start with, and I found the perfect thing in WFMU's new bin. I must say, I've not been keeping track of what David Gilmour's been up to but I'm open to suggestion.

Dusty F:

Hey Irene- let's play some more Motorhead...waddya say?
They're still cool right? KILLED BY DEATH...yeahhhhhhh !!!!!!!
  4:00pm
Doug:

Motorhead are about a hundred times cooler since I saw the documentary about "Ace of Spades" on "Classic Albums." Those guys are hilarious.
  4:07pm
Irene:

Y'know... Can't a person do a gentle show without someone saying "Pick up the tempo"?

Inquisitively, I.
  4:13pm
Wes:

Your show is perfect. They are carrying over the Motorhead madness from another playlist discussion, and are only trying to rib you.
  4:19pm
Carlos:

Nice playlist, Irene. Good time and good star from Mexico ;)
  4:21pm
suzi:

Is this rebecca hall? sounds like her.

  4:25pm
Irene:

Yes, it was Rebecca Hall and her husband Ken Anderson. New album called Hungrytown. Very nice!

---I.
  4:27pm
suzi:

I thought so, I haven't seen her in ages. I know her from years and years and years ago! We lived in this crazy house in Cambridge one summer. She was a crazy thing. 1988.
  4:31pm
Parq:

Perhaps a compromise is possible. Is there perchance a "Motorhead Unplugged"?
  4:32pm
suzi:

Sounds good
  4:33pm
Wes:

Maybe something from the Symphonic Motorhead tribute album....?
  4:35pm
Irene:

'tis a Motorhead-free-zone at the moment!
  4:38pm
chris:

Here's a link of elakelaiset covering ace of spades. Is this an humppa free zone?

thank god!
  4:47pm
graeme harper:

Hi from London.. Just joined the show. Im sad I missed Robert Wyatt and the Malcolm Le Maistre tracks. Was this the old ISB chap ? I also wished i'd heard the Redwing Blackbird track, I saw some Redwings and some Blackbirds today . Always a joy to see the first Redwings of winter.
  4:49pm
flemming:

you're welcome! great show so far!
  4:53pm
carlo:

I'm enjoying your show Irene; keep it coming-- I have cover letters to write. Thanks.
Don't mine my syntax.
  4:55pm
Carlos:

oh! that guitar so warm... "Wholly in my keeping"... their voices... warm wind, warm wind... very nice!!!!
  5:14pm
graeme harper:

Nice Robin Hitchcock track. He was standing behind me to buy a newspaper a couple of weeks ago. I was too shy to say hello.Still an impressive looking man...
  5:53pm
Irene:

I've now had the opportunity to talk to Robyn a few times and find he's totally charming. Even got to drive him out to WFMU, and spent a while stuck in traffic talking about politics, and cats among many things. Helped ease my butterflies about interviewing him. He's also more than a head taller than I am so I could easily have been intimidated as well. Made me even more of a fan, if that's even possible.

  5:59pm
graeme harper:

I was quite excited just to have seen him in the newsagents. I got back to the office and said ' hey guess what ? Ive just seen Robyn Hitchcock' and , of course , no-one knew who the hell I was talking about. The kids of today eh ?
  6:06pm
suzi:

Does he like cats?
  6:10pm
Irene:

Well at least you can say you saw him up close, Graeme! Pity they don't know what they're missing. Have a good night (and hope you get to spot him again.)!

  7:55am
Mike Lupica:

The day that Irene brought Robyn Hitchcock to WFMU, he gave a fascinating (and somewhat stern) lecture on the physics of proper tea making as it pertains to agitated molecules being heated in a kettle versus a microwave. It was the most terrifyingly great celebrity encounter I've ever had at WFMU and Scott and I responded by looking at our shoes and grunting: "Yes, Robyn".
  8:43am
Irene:

Mike, I think that was actually the day the Soft Boys came out to WFMU, which was itself a truly amazing day. I remember babbling "It's a pleasure," each time one of the band introduced themselves. I think I've graduated to having an actual conversation with the band members without totally embarrassing myself.

Oh, and Suzi, Robyn does like cats. He had one at the time, and was extolling the benefits of pet insurance.

---I.
  9:10am
Mike Lupica:

Ahh, yes. You are correct, it was the Soft Boys! I have a pretty strong fear of famous people in general, but I think the only time I COMPLETELY dorked out was when Joe Strummer visited Hova's show. I was so beside myself with awe that when Strummer offered to shake my hand during introductions, I nearly handed him the bag of trash I was taking to WFMU's dumpster.
  12:52pm
Irene:

Nice to know our musical heroes can still turn us to mush!
  7:37am
CHRISTO:

Love the show. The blue background under the playlist is killing my eyes.
  9:51am
Irene:

Thanks for saying so, Christo. Sometimes it displays weirdly on other computers. I may try to lighten it a bit.
