Nobody's posted yet?? Michael, maybe it comes from growing up in NJ in the 60s, but I totally agree with Dennis on the Seasons.

Always happy to hear any great musician from Memphis. We had a blast there at the 2006 Ponderosa Stomp!

Saw Hank Thompson on stage here in my hometown twice during the 1990s. Super shows. He was one of those guys who would sign autographs and pose for pics after the shows. He showed lots of attention to his fans. Good guy. Will be missed lots.

Thumbs down on the 4 Seasons...sure they had some good hits but Frankie Valle's voice could actually be downright annoying at times. Brian & Carl Wilson always hit those high, sweet sounds that were most seductive. Compare the catalogs & influence...lets give a call to the Hamptons & see what Paul McCartney thinks? Koodoo's to Michael Schelly for confronting Dikon at Belock's wedding reception...someday has to try to bring D.D. back to reality.

Denis Dikon has a point. The Four Season definitely hold their own with the Beach Boys at times. Amazing vocals. Great hooks. Tremendous pop stuff. Sure, they failed to cut a Pet Sounds, but the 'Boys, as great as they are, cut a lot of dogs (ditto for the Seasons) IMHO. They were cooked after Brian cracked, while the Four Seasons pumped out some wicked guilty pleasures. And the recently released Smile is such a huge disappointment (after 30+ years of hype), why, I'd rather listen to the Four Seasons (or The Smithereens!), than listen to that pompous Van Dyke Parks-fed windbaggery. P.S. I am not a friend of Dennis's. And I think Michael Shelley rules.

How ridiculous to compare one group over another. Two totally musical experiences... what's the dopey point in rating one over the other? I like them both so cooties to all of you.
