  Fri. 10/5/07 9:29am pat:

AAAAHHHH! I have a freakin meeting every Friday at 11! No Trane for me.
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:30am Christina:

God, it's like this song was written expressly for me.
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:31am Matt:

Yeah, this Alton Guyon song could be the soundtrack to my commute every morning.
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:32am Dilbert:

pat - you have to suffer for the music. what's more important: Trane or your job? i think the answer should be clear to you.
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:32am mike:

Not usually one to drink the coffee, but I will raise a mug in honor of Mr. Guyon, and you Doug. Thanks again.
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:35am Paul Sherratt - Uk:

" Don't Forget The Coffee, Billy Joe "

Just had my serious afternoon fix on this warm & sleepy, sunny day.

No napping allowed today !
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:38am pat:

Hmm, job or music?...Well, I work for a conservation org so really I'm working to preserve this planet for human life so everyone can go on listening to music. I guess I'll sacrifice my ears for the good of all...
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:38am Lars:

really looking forward to the Coltrane doc!
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:42am Parq:

Doug's gonna be on in the office today, and my workload can stuff it.
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:43am Paul Sherratt:

That's not Lars from Cholmondeley is it ?
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:45am Lars:

  Fri. 10/5/07 9:47am christina:

I freakin' love cuban music.
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:48am Paul Sherratt:

Well it was close ...

Portuguese speaking listeners please note - Cholmondeley is pronounced " Chummly "
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:48am Eric Hoffsten:

Great show as always, Doug. Really grooved on that Os Canibais, which reminded me that I hadn't been to Brazilian Nuggets in a while... and lo and behold!
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:51am Doug:

Eric, Now you know all my secrets! Brazilian Nuggets is fantastic. Also check out Loronix and J Thyme... Kind for other amazing Brazilian downloads.
  Fri. 10/5/07 9:51am pat:

dang! another DCer. There are tons of us listening to FMU.
  Fri. 10/5/07 10:01am Christina:

Is all this stuff you're playing off the brazilian nuggets site?
  Fri. 10/5/07 10:02am Parq:

While we're on the subject of cool music blogs, Crud Crud is a great source for FMUish off-off-mainstream music, domestic and international.
  Fri. 10/5/07 10:03am Doug:

Christina,
Three of the Brazilian tracks ARE from that site! It's been a good couple of weeks over at Brazilian Nuggets.
  Fri. 10/5/07 10:06am Christina:

Yeah, this is making it hard to work since I have to keep coming back to this window to see what's playing!
  Fri. 10/5/07 10:08am mike:

as lewis mumford says- Dance before drudgery!
  Fri. 10/5/07 10:14am Thatcher:

The Greatest Hits of Scientologists! Swift as the Clay.
  Fri. 10/5/07 10:17am Thatcher:

  Fri. 10/5/07 10:58am pat:

  Fri. 10/5/07 11:02am krex:

w0000t! Trane! thanks Doug.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:03am Christina:

How's this for dorky? I just put a reminder on my outlook calendar so that I remember to tune in for the next four fridays.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:04am chris Garcia:

jon lucien RIP
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:05am krex:

I did that as soon as I read about it earlier this week. not dorky, 'prepared'.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:09am mike:

Thanks for the tip Christina. I wrote it on a regular calendar like an incompetent dork. I'm transferring it to the space age right now.

Doug- thank you, thank you, thank you.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:10am Doug:

We are all dorks together. Long live the dorks.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:21am Christina:

I pass thru Philly on the train when I go from NYC to DC to see the folks ... boy is it down at the heel. I"m sure there are revitalized areas but I was shocked. When I think of messed up cities I think of Baltimore or Detroit, not Philadelphia.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:29am Bob DuCharme:

Cal Massey's name just keeps coming up... I got the album off of emusic.com, and it's great, but I wish someone had tuned that piano before they recorded it.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:43am Liz French:

Hi Doug:

Was this doc ever aired? I will send a letter of appreciation, this is a TREASURE.

thanks for broadcasting it.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:44am Lars:

This is really great. Can't wait for next week. Expect my love letter to the producer sometime soon. (Especially since I'll be away from all internet two Fridays from now!)
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:45am Doug:

"Tell Me How Long Trane's Been Gone" first aired on public radio stations across the country back in 2001, which would have been Coltrane's 75th year. It has never aired since and has never been made available commercially.
  Fri. 10/5/07 11:48am Christina:

Think about what's to come -- the greatness they're going to cover in the next four hours. We've barely gotten started, here.
  Fri. 10/5/07 12:00pm mike:

"A Force for good." God- I'm sitting here at my desk trying not to cry. I'll definitely write a thank you to the producers for this. Transcendent.
