Playlist for The Evan "Funk" Davies Show - October 2, 2007

Tuesdays 11pm - 2am on WFMU 91.1 fm 90.1 fm wfmu.org

Starting with the 70s -- it could be a classic (or obscure) punk rocker, a forgotten disco diva, a long-unheard hit record, or none of these. What happens next depends on what's in the WFMU new bin and whether I remember my records from home. Tune in and find out! You'll even hear a live band once in a while.

Listener comments!

Tue. 10/2/07 11:33pm From: Jessica Donohoe

"Yes, that was Motley Crue," he says, in answer to the coast-to-coast chorus of "No he did not!'
Mine was shouted in syncopation to a be-aproned chicken-soup-making kitchen-prowling-strut. So thanks for that.

Wed. 10/3/07 12:02am From: Jason

that 'crue actually got a ragin air guitar solo performance courtesy of my office mate. killer.

Everyone loves the Crue!

Wed. 10/3/07 12:13am From: chow fun

I didn't think it sounded glitch-y, but what do I know?

Wed. 10/3/07 12:24am From: efd

i thought i was hearing some static-y type noises at least in the first couple of minutes, but maybe i'm overly sensitive after my recent CD woes. it was definitely better than the last time i tried to play it, though.
god bless the new CD intern!

Wed. 10/3/07 1:57am From: Luna

Loved your finds of modern renditions of classic 70s tunes...did you play "american woman" +/or "the night chicago died" in its entireties or just samplings? where can I find?

Wed. 10/3/07 12:04pm From: Eek a Mouse

Afraid Of Mice: if only they'd had a better name they'd have been bigger than Prag Vec

Wed. 10/3/07 3:36pm From: efd

@eek - good point! still, they do qualify for the rodent-band hall of fame, along with Ratt, Modest Mouse and of course the Chipmunks (not to mention your reggae-singing namesake.
@Luna, the version of "The Night Chicago Died" was played in its entirety, but may not have been entirely recognizable. The "American Woman" riff you heard is part of my music bed, which is a loop of the 1992 song "Saturday Night Fever" by the Lordz of Brooklyn.
