Hear this show now: RealAudio | Add or read comments

Ken Braun is US head of the exemplary world music label / distributor Sterns Music, whose great strength is African popular music. Ken just produced a definitive 2-cd anthology covering the golden years of the seminal Congolese bandleader Tabu Ley Rochereau: The Voice of Lightness, Congolese Classics 1961-1977 (Sterns). He also wrote extensive liner notes. On today's show explores the life and times of Tabu Ley Rochereau, one of the most influential figures in the history of African Popular Music. We also sample a few other recent Sterns releases.
