Set 2: the old radio show portion of the evening. (Listen to this set: Real)
Mystery In The Air  The Black Cat   (No album)  (No label)  Mystery In The Air...a 1947 summer replacement series of only 8 episodes, all of which survive. It offered dramatizations of stories from World Literature, and all starred Peter Lorre. Shows were of exceptionally high quality, and often had something of a dark and hallucinatory feel. This episode: Peter Lorre obsesses over, yes, a black cat ("that beast - it's come back to haunt me!!!"), a dead wife, and has a bunch of mad moments, including yet another fine mad scene at the end. And it was all done live. Originally aired September 18, 1947.  ***
