| The Ex | Live in the WFMU Studios | Engineered by Colin McLean and Gil Shuster | Since 1979, Holland's greatest musical export has been setting the bar higher and higher. Starting off as squat-residing political punks that learned music only after booking their first gig, the band has grown into an incredible example of living its message via passionate and prolific output both musical and print-related. Through the years, their world travels have allowed them to grow and absorb many genres of music into their sound, from European folk, to improvisational jazz and African pop; in the last few years they completed a self-promoted tour of Ethiopia and have released CD's from some of the continent's greatest musicians including the famed Konono Number 1. Live, the current lineup of Terrie, Andy, G.W. Sok, and Katherina are a veritable tornado of pounding rhythms and dissonant twin guitars, tearing up the stage more each time they return to New York. They appear for the first time ever in WFMU's live room today for a full session, plus interview afterwards that will include their current tourmate DJ/Rupture.
