Live performance by The Wingdale Community Singers (Listen to this set: Pop-up)

(David Grubbs, Hannah Marcus & Rick Moody)

The Wingdale Community Singers are the trio of Hannah Marcus (Dazzling Vocals), Rick Moody (Novel Words), and David Grubbs (Contrarian Utility Fielder). The trio's greatly varied talents contribute to a sound that is both urbanly modernistic in an Old-Timey sort of way without viewing themselves too seriously. Their spirited set included a Hannah song not on the album, a haunting new tune by David Grubbs, and a Smiths cover. (Rick even warbled some Smiths favorites druring my feeble attempts at what passed for an interview later.)
