I got a real soft spot for Gothic horror & romance, and this Henry James nugget from 1898 has got just about all the elements in one place: ghosts, pale, presumptious (and probably incestuous) children (one of each), dead parents, sprawling wood-enclosed private land, evil and scary underclasses, loony servants, a whole lotta guilt, utter self-loathing, and some seriously fucked up nooky. There's Marlon Brando & Stephanie Beecham up top there gettin' it on in Michael Winner's 1971 prequel "The Nightcomers", still light years ahead of
