Oh, yeah. Percy Faith loomed large in my childhood. I've mentioned before that my mother listened to Easy Listening/Beautiful Music radio stations when I was little. I have very strong memories of hearing Free Design then.

I watched an extensive interview with Mike Pinder about a dozen years ago where he discussed how difficult it was to work with Mellotrons. He became the go-to guy when groups had problems with their Mellotrons. Pinder was also their main vocalist back in the early 60s. Their big "early" hit notwithstanding.

I've mentioned before that Mike Pinder ran a music store here about a decade or so ago. He told me the story of how the gong got on the Moodies song Late Lament (I think). It was just sitting in the corner, and someone finally insisted on recording it. Pinder got the honors, and he said as a result he shook more than the gong.
