I saw Miles in his later years. I'd have to say that while he was integrating pop material like 'Time After Time' (a bit later), it would be hard to imagine him not always working with crack jazz musicians, really young upcoming jazz innovators. He hardly played; it had become so minimal, and so generous to the other players. But actually collaborating with pop stars might have been unintelligible to them and insufferably boring to him. Still, that's how long I've been around so by now I'm fairly confident that I know nothing.
