	7:21pm Dean: That's interesting, G, because contract law (which I assume is similar enough in the UK to what we see in the US) involves a concept dubbed "consideration." Briefly, consideration is what both parties bring to the agreement. Absent consideration, we're looking only at a promise, which courts tend not to enforce. So, that the management dude got his 5% for "nothing" is not precisely true. Presumably--the actual historical circumstances could negate this presumption--the band agreed to pay (their consideration) him the 5% for any management services he provided (his consideration) even when he was no longer their manager.

Presumably--the actual historical circumstances could negate this presumption--the band agreed to pay (their consideration) him the 5% for any management services he provided (his consideration) even when he was no longer their manager.
