Parliamentary electioncs are indeed today, and the far-right True Finns, the far-right light Kokoomus and the Social Democrats (Marin's party) are all within a percentage point of each other. Lots of people who would usually vote Greens or Left Alliance (as I usually do in the local elections in which I'm allowed to vote as a non-Finnish resident) are voting SD in hopes that they end up at the top and get first dibs on putting together a coalition. Unfortunately, even if SD ends up on top, there is probably no way to avoid bringing Kokoomus into the coalition, just like they had to bring in the asshole neolib party Keskusta last time. But if Kokoomus wins, there is a real danger they could go into coalition with the True Finns.

Though Frankfurt (my old and probably future adopted hometown) has some of the driest and warmest weather in Germany, the weather there isn't so great either. But April/May and August-October can be beautiful. Winter is several months of drizzle and with global warmin, June and July are usually unbearably hot. So my current plan after retirement is to spend February/March (when it's beautiful and snowy) and June July (when it's usually warm but not too hot, and it doesn't get dark) in the cabin in Finland, and otherwise in Frankfurt.

“Undercover” - whoa, really?! That might be a first.
Just the album cover itself was a challenge to commit to. But what do I know. I loved Tattoo You & Dirty Work.

Demagogic democracy
Bent on unscrupulous manipulation,
duping the masses with skilled provocation,
selling them lies that tickle their taste,
stoking their fears to spew out their hate

There's many a ploy to bolster illusions,
prolonging the game by sowing confusion,
beguiling the mind to keep on the surface,
that covers the grotesquely burgeoning surplus

BlackWoman is the album that I never could find thru the pre-internet era. (Wow - dates me old). Sharrock as guest in collaboration concert at The Knitting Factory(?)
Proceeded to shred many of his strings immediately at the beginning of his featured moments. So fun to watch him blindly re-string his guitar whilst creating un-godly sounds from the few stings remaining. Oh what memories.

Nice work Brian. A lively comments board today. Just the right time of day for European folks. Myself not included due to the UK taking back control (of nothing).

Cheers Brian & all! Missed the first hour because we turned the clocks back here in New Zealand and didn't do the math right. Hopefully I'll get the math right when I try to post this comment!

The Herzog film Fata Morgana uses Cohen to excellent effect.
