I stopped watching Silicon Valley because I really *don't* like the characters. At least many of them.

The show is really well executed, and does a brilliant job of portraying those software-hype jamokes... and I've already met them, and didn't like them the first time, and absolutely don't want to spend more time with them.

Yep, I completely understand that as well. I didn't have the same strong negative reaction as you to the Slackers crew because they weren't the particular group I'd been overexposed to and developed an allergic reaction to in real life. That one I am more sympathetic with because the trauma enacted on those characters and the complete incapacity of wealth to ameliorate it is the engine of the show. And the dialogue is so good.

...whereas even though many of the characters are terrible people, I still find Billions compelling and more rewarding than not. The writing's good, the characters develop, and some of my favorite actors are in there doing their thing in good form.
