Abated breath… I'm glad you reminded me of that one!

* Abated Breath

2oz Glen Passaic
cello sponge
paper grocery bag

This nostrum from the psychiatric appendix to the Stork Club Cocktail Bible makes use of capillary action to produce its sedative effect. Fold paper bag flat, open end toward you, and draw on it a life-size innocuous smile, using whatever lipstick, ink, or iodine falls to hand. Pour Glen Passaic in rocks glass. Add sponge, standing on end, with bottom in liquid. Balance glass on head, invert paper grocery bag over head and glass together, with bag's opening resting on shoulders, innocuous smile facing forward. Breathe deeply until relief from fiscal anxiety or respiratory arrest ensues. The innocuous smile ensures that you will be left undisturbed until the vapors have been inhaled in full. Should paper bags be unavailable in your area, a souvenir tote bag or t-shirt (with arm and head openings tied shut) from your local public or community radio station may be substituted, at some cost to anonymity.

I first heard "they're coming to take me away" being sung by a young Afro-American (young but older than me at that time) who was sitting a few rows behind my friend and I at a Rolling Stones concert in 1966. While waiting for the concert to start, he urged his friend "come on, man, give me the beat" and then as they clapped and slapped their thighs he did the song. I was thinking it was a Black music thing, the record wasn't getting top 40 airplay that we noticed, until a bit later seeing Samuels / Napoleon XIV do his thing on a TV talk show.

And that is today's walk down memory lane from WR.

And hello Stork and Lady C and habitues of the drummer stream.

She traded her car to Don Buchla for it in the mid 2000’s and has played it augmented by clone modules ever synth. My 200e is nicknamed Bethany after my hero Ms. Ryker who should have a show on the Drummer stream. I was unaware of the Buffy St Marie and will look for it. The original Buchla recordings were by Mort Subotnik and Pauline Oliveros at the SF Tape Music Center circa 65-67.

If you mean does the Swag For Life renewal count for this year, it definitely does. You get to either choose the specific shows you're supporeting when you extend/continue the SFL, or you can divvy them up during the marathon (say, $20 during a specific show to get in a drawing for a prize, taken from the SFL, until you use it up, and it will credit to the shows you "pledge" to. Then, these days, there's so many great shows on so many great streams, it's easy to go through the whole SFL in no time (it used to last most of the marathon-not any longer), in which case it's over the SFL pledging!
(I do as chresti does, find all the swag choices too much to figure until after the marathon is over, then I nudge Joe McGasko after it ends with choices).

The acid was only brown cause they dropped it in all that mud.
...For all the talk about Woodstock ...never seen an exposition of exactly what was up with the available flavors of fry - & if actually questionable blotter was more than a shared hallucination. But on second thot ...that's fine...

I often note that when I left NewHampshuh in the mid~late 1980s - we still called it 'tripping'. By the time I got to Santa Barbara then - they called it 'frying'.
& ...so it was.
Myself - I was quite fortunate to meet a friend who had pure, potent LSD of quality provenance diluted in water in a Visine bottle so one could control the dosage. If I could go back - I'd probly have stopped while I was ahead like that ...tho I had one notable trip in the Arizona desert on the way to the West Coast in which I Saw the Goddess...

Thanks, Michael 98145. Can't wait for the surprise when the box shows up in the mail.

The thing i love about ABBA's Waterloo.. is if you find TV performances the guitar is dressed like Ace Freely

It occurs to me that although I remarked about your proximity to Jan Turkenburg's HQ in Zwolle, you're not far from Waterloo.
