As a youngin looking back, however, I feel (and this is quite obvious I think) Disco seemed like an inclusive genre which celebrated diversity in people. Also, I can certainly say Disco made it to India but Punk didn't. Perhaps the diversity showcased in Disco could have been the reason. There may have been a more universal appeal with its happy/peppy thing too.

	2:42pm Mr. Oxford: There was a Hindi language movie in the 1980s in India called Disco Dancer about a homegrown disco star. The movie is pretty awful but was quite successful and was even more popular in the Soviet Union. I think DJ Greg played a song off of that movie few weeks ago which features Usha Utthap (who has been played on this show too). The song is basically a rip off of "Video Killed the Radio Star" hahaha. TL;DR version: Disco was quite popular in India in the 1980s/1990s.

As a youngin looking back, however, I feel (and this is quite obvious I think) Disco seemed like an inclusive genre which celebrated diversity in people. Also, I can certainly say Disco made it to India but Punk didn't. Perhaps the diversity showcased in Disco could have been the reason. There may have been a more universal appeal with its happy/peppy thing too.

The movie is pretty awful but was quite successful and was even more popular in the Soviet Union. I think DJ Greg played a song off of that movie few weeks ago which features Usha Utthap (who has been played on this show too). The song is basically a rip off of "Video Killed the Radio Star" hahaha. TL;DR version: Disco was quite popular in India in the 1980s/1990s.
