I saw a Cuban band, at the Ottawa Jazz Fest early 90s ahead of the Buena Vista curve, made up entirely of seniors. Outdoor show with an adoring crowd. They played encore after encore. Finally they stopped, joking “Please. We’re old. Let us go to bed.”

I had a little NY moment several years ago, a Kronos Quartet curated Terry Riley In C concert at Carnegie Hall. Got a couple of cheap seats way high up. As we were leaving saw Terry Rily and an older couple, who were dressed all in black leather, waiting for an elevator going up. As I was wondering what was up and why were they going up, the lady of the couple said, "come on La Monte" and I realized that it was La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela and as I discreetly lurked and listened it seemed that a Carnegie Hall employee was taking them up to a balcony to smoke some dope. They looked kinda cute, old old folks futively but officially going outside to smoke some pot.
