Favoriting Cratedigger's Lung with Rich In Washington: Playlist from February 17, 2023 Favoriting

Rich in Washington's avatar View Rich in Washington's profile Favoriting

A three-hour exploration of excavations from the farthest reaches of humanity's hellish collective brain, through records, tapes, CDs, mostly scoured from country bumpkin thrift stores, creepy charity shops, backwoods junk stores, and even the internet - all mixed live. We don't judge, we just play 'em. Hosted by Rich in Washington.

Hello, Rich & Cratediggers!

I know many popular cartoon characters have appeared in Tijuana Bibles. I've seen some myself. (And I've seen even more on the interwebs.) It just seems surreal to hear Popeye wax philosophical about the values of virtue. (At least, it was until he came back to SatAM TV in the late 70's...)

No but they sure played it tons live.
They did eventually release it on the Humpty Dumpty LSD comp.

I used to have some decent live footage of them which was shot by Smegma member Mike Lastra. If there was every a great punk/weirdo/noise thing happening in Portland, Mike was there with a camera crew. I wonder if they used anything by him in the BHS movie?

Rich, I've been lucky enough to have seen them 17 times. The last show for me was NYE 2010 at Music Hall in Williamsburg.

I stupidly passed when the classic lineup was coming through my town a couple of years ago (when was that?). Not sure why.

I saw them about four times, once at Metro in Chicago and at Bogart's in Cinti

that pic reminds me of the time Gibby nearly set the ceiling of Pine Street Theater on fire. It was scary. Even he looked scared for a second but kept doing it anyway.

Why didn't I go? I don't remember. I believe it was at Crystal Ballroom, which is a nice intimate venue but has awful acoustics.

The 1991 show at the Marquee in NYC literally caused strobe light induced seizures. The played behind a white wall of strobes.

Back in the days before you'd get warnings about that stuff...there were so many before Infinity Pool I started to wonder if I was still OK with strobe effects...

With any luck, the director/producer will sell it as a download online for a nominal fee. There's a merch section on that film's website with nothing in it yet. Here's hopin'
