A few years ago, there was an Amish Market up here, run by some Turkish folks. I was shopping there one Sunday and the family was celebrating something and had all kinds of Turkish food. They invited me to sit and eat with them. Such friendly people!

that is so cool!

Rumi Grill in JC has these lunch specials -- supposedly a half-portion of their dinners -- but they are HUGE! as is the "small" order of french fries -- can never finish it all! so i will have food for the next day

there is another awesome place in Paterson -- forgetting the name, but same thing! huge portions, and everyone there -- staff, other customers -- are so friendly, congenial -- a real family feeling to it

when i was working at the local county welfare agency, riding on the bus to my job, i would see all these store signs: "NEW AND USED MATTRESSES" . . . no surprise that there was a massive bedbug problem . . . so heartbreaking and infuriating, i would see all these young moms, with really small children -- looking thoroughly pissed off, bad enough they are on public assistance, but now their kid(s) had bedbug bites
