Does anyone know what that tune is that Idrees quotes in the first chorus of his solo? Ba-dum-dah-dah da-dah-dum, ba-dum ba-dah dah-dah. To me it sounds like a call-and-response from a childrens' song. Seems like most everyone quotes it -- this is its second appearance in today's broadcast -- and I've never known what it is.

In the case of Oscar Dennard, I think the "Legendary" tag fitting in the sense that, for most people and for the longest time, he existed merely as unheard legend. This one recording of the Idrees Sulieman Quartet live in Tangier is the sole recording we have to really hear him. Otherwise, you had to have been at a live performance to have experienced his playing.

Have hardly ever listened to anything but the Drummer Stream for the longest time, just recently have checked out some of the other streams, too much great stuff out there...(I do have a problem with that studio reverb that some of the other stream DJ's like to use ALL THE TIME, is the idea to be an authentic 1965 DJ? Drives me a bit nuts...other complaint-I think sound quality on some of the shows isn't up to snuff. I know it's all low bit rate mp3, but I still hear differences).

My father had the soundtrack to the Umbrellas of Cherbourg by Michel Legrand. It was never discussed, but I do believe my parents saw the movie and didn't take me! I was so surprised to see it for the first time and find out it was a musical. visually stunning - three strip technicolor, I think. Jacques Demy also did the Model Shop, which was more to my liking.
