I said something like, I hope the beer lives up to its name and he gave me a can for free. I told my little brother (who had it played at his wedding) & he asked if it took me 10 minutes to drink it. RIP TV.

They looked like a work of art, and sounded like a flock of birds and planets colliding at the same time. Not an easy feat. After Television, it was hard to take a lot of the bands of the day seriously.

	9:38pm Dean: Not hard at all for me to square Television with all of the punk at the time. The offerings were, in the parlance of today, diverse. They were and should remain canonical NYC punk artists. To my ear, Television helped to clarify the terrain of punk, which was not just an outburst of immature ideology, not just DIY, "everybody can be in a band," though it was some of that, too. Verlaine evidently said, "Practice? I never practice. I just write songs and take solos." That was pretty much the ordinary vibe at the time.

Maybe that's what Rawk & Pop always were - if not Blues before that, what have you ...as for Blues, Michael Venturea (iirc) noted it makes sense an important label was called Chess: you can learn the Form pretty quick ...but to be a Master - might never happen... Anyway - Television were another thing. The relation of Punk & Poetry is pretty notable... Just reading Verlaine said he came late to Rawk - & grew up on Jazz.

I thought that was so badass that she did that tho lol. Almost worked.

Thankfully, my buddy had his book with him and let me borrow it while I was in the waiting room. Everyone I dealt with -- EMTs, admins, nurses, medical student, attending doc, all -- were incredibly nice and generous and caring. All except the cops. They were really steering into the cop skid. Ugh.

They were and should remain canonical NYC punk artists. To my ear, Television helped to clarify the terrain of punk, which was not just an outburst of immature ideology, not just DIY, "everybody can be in a band," though it was some of that, too. Verlaine evidently said, "Practice? I never practice. I just write songs and take solos." That was pretty much the ordinary vibe at the time.

Thankfully, my buddy had his book with him and let me borrow it while I was in the waiting room. Everyone I dealt with -- EMTs, admins, nurses, medical student, attending doc, all -- were incredibly nice and generous and caring. All except the cops. They were really steering into the cop skid. Ugh.
