From the mid-60's I have been enthralled by MOST British bands, but DDDBM&T have always been left out of the conversations of these bands--UNLESS I am around! This song got its' first US release, oddly enough, just last year when it was on the soundtrack for a movie of the same name!

My neighbor built a loft in his garage, and then a 16 block radius radio station in it. They would go over our homework, read encyclopedias, do complex math problems...I lugged my close and play up there and broadcast music! We were like 7 and 8 years old!

The local racetrack when I was a teen had an ad that sampled the lick to Detroit's version of The Velvets' "Rock & Roll". It was decades before I realized it came from an actual record and wasn't some generic "rock" track for the ad.
