And here we are. Hello NGN!

Hello DJ Nick, Wendy!

Hey Wendy! Hi there Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:02pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Hello, DoctorJazz!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:04pm
doctorjazz:

Don't know The Diamond Five; checked Discogs, this LP for sale (only 1 copy available), $421.05. (there are cds out there)
Avatar 7:06pm
djnogoodnick:

No, there are two European represses. You can get it much cheaper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm
doctorjazz:

Sure, that's the original vinyl, has been reissued. Still, the price hit me.

CalZone!:

Howdy NGNick, et al!
Avatar 7:08pm
djnogoodnick:

Hi CalZone thx for wandering in (and making me peckish)!
  7:11pm
CalZone!:

Yes, I have that effect on people.
Avatar 7:12pm
djnogoodnick:

If I sound a little rough it's because it's been a rough week! Recovering from the flu along with like 80% of New York
Avatar 🎸 7:15pm
Manta:

heya NGN!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:15pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Aww, Nick, feel better soon. You didn't necessarily sound rough, but your mic was a wee bit quiet during that last break.
Avatar 7:16pm
djnogoodnick:

Noted! I'm using a brand new mic as well this week. Christmas came early!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Ooh! Congratulations. What kinda mic did you get?
Avatar 7:20pm
djnogoodnick:

My friend Sally (who does a comics podcast called Thick Lines) recommended something called a Maono. She said the Blue mic I have been using for 2 years is for children and Twitch streamers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:22pm
doctorjazz:

Definitely a ton of flu around (and RSV, rhinovirus, and COVID)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Haha, yeah. In the beginning of lockdown I got a Blue Snowball when we all had to move our shows to our bedrooms. It was fine and what I could afford at the time, but I DO NOT like how my voice sounds with it. My dear friend Glenn is sending me a Shure SM58, which is a generous gift. My dream mic is a Sennheiser ElectroVoice RE20. But it's $450 and I just spent a buncha $$ on a mixer and such, so that's not happening any time soon. I hope you love the Maono!
  7:25pm
Holland Oatzier Holland:

Much enjoying! 🎶🙌🔥💕
Avatar 7:25pm
djnogoodnick:

Yeah, the Snowball! That's what I've been using. I would like to use a mixer but I need an apartment big enough to fit a long table first.
Avatar 7:26pm
djnogoodnick:

Thanks Holland! The drums are slippery on that Polish jazz for sure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:27pm
doctorjazz:

Like this Weston a whole lot!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Oy, I hear ya. My last apartment, before I moved into this house, was 517 sq ft. I had enough space for my laptop and Blue Snowball. I did not have enough space to do jigsaw puzzles, bring out my sewing machine, or even entertain the notion of a mixer.
Avatar 7:29pm
djnogoodnick:

Yeah! It was a little bit of a throwback for him at the time, but I love it.
Avatar 7:29pm
djnogoodnick:

I pulled the mic a little closer so now we should find out how it really sounds
Avatar 7:29pm
LadyChanticleer:

Hey! Sounds great

@doctorjazz I'm here w Lady C. Thanks for providing our after party tunes!
Avatar 7:33pm
djnogoodnick:

Hey great to see you both here! Did you have *another* party? Did Kim G come to this one?
Avatar 7:34pm
LadyChanticleer:

Kim G was short. And that's all I can report!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:35pm
doctorjazz:

@desert fox, was a really fun show!
Avatar 7:36pm
Desert Fox // DJ Palindrome:

One for the annals... However, high point of my day was doing the playlist for a Marfa Chamber of Commerce dog parade...
Avatar 7:37pm
djnogoodnick:

Oh wow, fun!
Avatar 7:37pm
djnogoodnick:

I caught the tail end so to speak. Wished I were dancing with those pooches but I was trying to set up a new microphone.
Avatar 7:37pm
Desert Fox // DJ Palindrome:

DJ Palindrome: will work for kibble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Desert Fox, I'm jealous! DJing a dog parade is a bunch of my dreams rolled into one. That must've been sweet.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm
doctorjazz:

I'd love to see the dog parade!
Avatar 7:40pm
LadyChanticleer:

I mean, that probably wins this year as the best DJ gig
Avatar 7:41pm
LadyChanticleer:

And we are DJing NYE together live

Greetings from Woodside!

I went to a dog Halloween parade and the music was pretty fun.

djnogoodnick... Woof. George Clinton and Baha Men were played.

Lady C is it a doggy desert NYE in Marfa?

Avatar 7:48pm
djnogoodnick:

This was an absolute banger of a record during my mod jazz days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:55pm
doctorjazz:

I know the Three Blind Mice label-aside from fine Japanese jazz, they were known for great sounds. (Have a few old LPs)
Avatar 7:59pm
djnogoodnick:

Japanese Jazz is a really deep well and I only dipped in a few times, recently.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:06pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

Jackie and Roy! I had no idea they had last names. :-D
Avatar 8:07pm
djnogoodnick:

Underrated duo! They sang through many eras and eventually used their last names.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:16pm
Wendy del Formaggio:

I'm not familiar with all of their stuff, but what I know I love.
Avatar 8:21pm
djnogoodnick:

Herb Geller in another context for you, Doc!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm

Cool!
(Mosaics great label)

Mingus mingus mingus mingus mingus mingus
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:36pm
doctorjazz:

There's a Mingus among us)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:37pm
doctorjazz:

Fabulous track!!!!
Avatar 8:37pm
djnogoodnick:

Is there a reason I connect this song with the holiday season? Was it used in a holiday special?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:38pm
doctorjazz:

This was also titled Haitian Fight Song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:40pm
doctorjazz:

Not sure, Nick, but the title, II B.S, is Mingus' way of saying he was bullshitting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:41pm
doctorjazz:

Never got to see Mingus, but did see Horace Silver at the Village Vanguard, was obsessed with his stuff for a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:42pm
doctorjazz:

I think the stream is slightly "broken"; drop outs are more frequent than I remember them being.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:45pm
doctorjazz:

Here's an artist I don't know, Namyslowsky.
Avatar 8:47pm
djnogoodnick:

Not printed in the west until Jazzanova put out their Polish jazz comps in the 2000s.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:52pm
doctorjazz:

Elton Dean is someone I recently learned about, picked up a couple of CD;s (so American-Centric, me, and American Media, hadn't heard about these folks)
Avatar 8:53pm
djnogoodnick:

British jazz is criminally underheard! Maybe because it crosses over with art rock so much.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:55pm
doctorjazz:

This is in 7/8 time (if anyone cares-I like to count these odd rhythms)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm
doctorjazz:

(Hence the title, Seven for Lee)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:56pm
doctorjazz:

Nick, you Nogoodnick, great show, thanks much!
Avatar 8:56pm

I know I can't stop counting
