My understanding is - exactly that : TomPetty took the painkiller only to keep working. I've read the same about Prince. That fits both their profiles, no? Let's imagine the worst & they took stuff for kicks. Manufactured opioids would still be responsible for overdose for them - & (I suppose) millions of others whose names we'll know ...& maybe a few we will know. I don't know if it was counterfeit Vicodin - if so, maybe it was real fentanyl - & essentially a hotshot. I'm honestly speculating then - but he did in fact overdose & pass away.

@ ACMonicAC -- Do you know of a Boston band from the 1980s or 1990s that made a collection of the underground Boston psychedelic scene?

except that the band made up the names of all of the bands and wrote and recorded songs in different styles of psychedelic music for these made-up bands?
I saw a reference to it long ago, and instead of writing it down I just KNEW I would remember it, and I didm't.
Thank you!
