	10:59pm rw: Dude was a black kid hitchhiking at a (white) ski resort area. Jarrett was there to play a show and had to sneak out to go skiing because his manager was worried he would break an arm or something and not be able to play.

	🥁 ♥ 11:03pm doctorjazz: I told my Jarrett story before, but I'm getting to the age I'm expected to repeat myself. I went to see Jarrett solo at the Village Vanguard years back. They had a loud, touristy audience that night. Jarrett came out, started to play, audience kept talking.he stopped playing after a minute or so, sat quietly, then started again. Audience was still talking, he stopped again in a few minutes. He started a 3rd time, still noisy, got up, end of show. I understood, but was pissed off anyway, and refused to go see him again (which in retrospect was my loss, of course...)

After the show, I happened to see Pat from behind, walking alone back to his hotel, which was only a few blocks away. I had already hung around long enough after the show, when he often comes out to talk to people, and had asked him a question, so I didn’t bother him on his walk. Still, it was pretty cool to see him walking alone down a vacant street in the dark.

They had a loud, touristy audience that night. Jarrett came out, started to play, audience kept talking.he stopped playing after a minute or so, sat quietly, then started again. Audience was still talking, he stopped again in a few minutes. He started a 3rd time, still noisy, got up, end of show. I understood, but was pissed off anyway, and refused to go see him again (which in retrospect was my loss, of course...)

After the show, I happened to see Pat from behind, walking alone back to his hotel, which was only a few blocks away. I had already hung around long enough after the show, when he often comes out to talk to people, and had asked him a question, so I didn’t bother him on his walk. Still, it was pretty cool to see him walking alone down a vacant street in the dark.
