Wow! I don't know this album... but this sample of it is really making me want to get it. Damn!

spacebrother:

Which? The Byrne/ Eno?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm
Austin Rich:

Yeah. I guess I missed that one. Need to check it out.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm
Austin Rich:

That's really interesting. Perhaps my memory is failing, but I recall, at the time, she famously quipped, "You hired Rosanne Barr. What did you expect?" (Or some variation of that statement.) Perhaps I'm recalling it wrong...
Avatar 5:13pm
spacebrother:

She probably commented on it for may years afterwards. I remember that too.

Nice! I wish I could work out the lyrics to this one...will have to look them up. Happy 4th everyone - still a country worth fighting for....just....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm
Austin Rich:

I mean, there's room for both stories in there, I guess. Still...

This was a fairly recent interview. In the last 10 years I think.

Mr Fab:

Hey y’all, happy Indy Day!
And ohmigosh yes, “My Life In The Bush of Ghosts” is absolutely crucial. And highly influential- after it came came out it really planted the idea of sampling into the world’s head. You started to hear it soon after, hip-hoppers like Public Enemy have cited it as an influence.
Avatar 5:18pm
spacebrother:

@ Fab - I didn't know that! Nice.

The more i read about it, the more I'm shocked I don't know it! I need to get on the ball.

Is the stream periodoically going quiet for you guys?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:23pm
Austin Rich:

I've noticed that all afternoon.

OK, it's not just me. Thank you.

Yeah, the stream is cutting out a lot for me.

Mr Fab:

Got back from Tijuana, Mexico last night - a place seemingly as lawless and “bad” as pre-gentrification Hollywood Blvd or Times Square. Crazy fun - acrobat clowns juggling in the street? Check! Horses painted like zebras? Check, and yes I scored some kooky Mexican vintage vinyl, but the obvious poverty definitely spells out the difference between other countries and the US.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:36pm
Austin Rich:

Never been to TJ. But have been very curious. I should get down there sometime.
Avatar 5:36pm
spacebrother:

To me, Mexico is what the US would be like if the libertarians ran things.

Haha, true, Greg!

Wow, this is a horrible lovely hommage or rather, frommage to Bushy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm

I have to say, spacebrother. You found some truly obscene songs about the You Ess of A.

I need to see that Carlin documentary. I listened to him almost exclusively for so long, and then he passed, and I didn't really re-listen to him much after that. I have a feeling I'd enjoy those records again, but I just never went back.
Avatar 5:54pm
spacebrother:

I started listening to Carlin in my teens and was actually able to see him twice, once at the comedy store in the front row about 3 feet form him. Amazing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm
Austin Rich:

Damn! Never saw him (except on HBO). But he certainly informed a lot of my POV as a young man.

I sooooo gotta sample “I'm A Sick American.” Take that phrase out of context, and have fun with it.
