Mr Fab:

Happy Monday, RBG!
Avatar 4:02pm
Rubberband Girl:

Hi Fab! Thanks for poppin' in.
Avatar 4:02pm
Mr Fab:

Imagine, wanting to quite smoking, what a hilarious concept?!
Avatar 4:04pm
Rubberband Girl:

Really this is just a swingin', instrumental jazz record. I thought it would be goofy and comedic (mine is missing the booklet).
Avatar 4:05pm
Rubberband Girl:

But yes, in 1963 everyone was just STARTING!
Avatar 4:08pm
Mr Fab:

No booklet? Damn!

I will say this: there were a lot of cool modern design ashtrays. I have some that will never be used. Apart from the fact that no smoking is allowed in our house, don't want to make em dirty.
Avatar 4:09pm
Mr Fab:

My office was closed for this, America's first official Juneteenth celebration. I slept in. WAY in.
Avatar 4:11pm
Mr Fab:

I wonder if Creed Taylor and Herb Alpert were mortal enemies, battling over Brazilian talent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
MHLee:

We always had this day off for a separate state holiday. Now they move that holiday to Thanksgiving
Avatar 4:12pm
Rubberband Girl:

Cheers to Juneteenth being recognized! I was still responsible for my morning show, but I kind of phoned it in and wrapped early (not proud but necessary sometimes).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:12pm
MHLee:

Hello btw to Fab and RBG, rather intimate gathering here today
Avatar 4:18pm
Domenic:

Oh I really like that LP: Swings for Winners and Losers. Very saavy RBG , Marian Montgomery blamed her illness on 2nd hand smoke.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm
MHLee:

Love this
Avatar 4:20pm
Rubberband Girl:

Wait, what, Dom?? There are cigarettes on the cover of that LP, too, but not lit, lol
Avatar 4:21pm
Rubberband Girl:

I was in a casino recently, and someone asked if it was OK if he smoked, and I said, "No problem! I am actually a second-hand smoker", and I thought I was so hilarious.
Avatar 4:22pm
Mr Fab:

Hey, I'm laffin!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm
MHLee:

My fill-in show is not my typical Sheena's fare. Not light-hearted vintage music but dreamy soundscapes.
Avatar 4:23pm
Domenic:

LOL. I don't smoke either but don't mind it now and then. But I did quit my 1st professional job back in the early 1980's working next to a chain smoker..
Avatar 4:23pm
Otis:

Made it. Hi Folks!
Avatar 4:23pm
Rubberband Girl:

That sounds good, too, MH!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm
MHLee:

Hi Otis!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:25pm
MHLee:

Did Double Shot of My Baby's Love ever get a release like this? It should have... or gotten a ska release
Avatar 4:25pm
Otis:

I was just listening to that Sal album earlier today, so weird and cool! My copy came with 2 bookets, RBG do you need one?
Avatar 4:26pm
Mr Fab:

in case you all missed RBG's announcement, alas, she will be taking time off. Hopefully she'll be able to do fill-ins or sumthin. But not too may regular episodes left of this here show.
Avatar 4:27pm
Rubberband Girl:

OMG OTIS YES!!!!!!
Avatar 4:28pm
Domenic:

There is a Living Strings LP out there too. about quiting
Avatar 4:28pm
Otis:

I am on a kick now playing records in the order of the Discogs date around the pad. Sal is 1963. So peachy keen you played it today. My new thing is playing records by Discogs release date and putting aside and playing on Slow weekly. Will do RBG, booklet is yours ... I'll chat with Sondy and we can put together a Montreal care pack for you... will msg off chat. Cheers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:30pm
MHLee:

I just have an excel document I occasional open and use to check off albums as I listen to it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm
MHLee:

The original version of this song was a singer a viola and some random old man who could play piano who was hanging around the studio!
Avatar 4:32pm
Otis:

I do that with digital MHL... set to show # of full plays. So much digitized here as I purge vinyl often when spoken to records with 1 or 2 good tracks... like the mountain of school band ones.
Avatar 4:32pm
Rubberband Girl:

So your whole show is in chronological order now, Otis?
Avatar 4:33pm
Otis:

But that Sal is a keeper on the shelf. ... It is, tonight should be 1960-1962ish. I'm at 1963 now and it's a grand year.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
MHLee:

I have a collection of 45s I need to figure out how to play and digitalize
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm
MHLee:

But honestly digitalizing is just annoy enough for me to not want to do it
Avatar 4:34pm
Rubberband Girl:

I cannot keep any of my records in order for the life of me. It's a mess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm
MHLee:

most of my records are at my mother's house
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm
Austin Rich:

Late, as usual. But at least I got my 30 minutes of exercise today, which really needed to happen.

Good Hello, Everyone!
Avatar 4:40pm
Mr Fab:

I would say that was an amazing coincidence that Otis had two copies of the very booklet missing from RBG’s album, but we all know that Sheena is watching over us.
Avatar 4:42pm
Otis:

Sent you a over msg RBG with a photo of the booklets. So cool.
Avatar 4:42pm
Mr Fab:

Oh yeah, Catalina island is def my happy place too - I also have that Shipmates album as I def buy anything Catalina.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm
Austin Rich:

Smoke, smoke, smoke that cigarette...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm
MHLee:

A classic
Avatar 4:46pm
Otis:

Grusin... Smooooth. Ready to serve Pina Coladas.
Avatar 4:48pm
Otis:

Bonus Funky Bass.
Avatar 4:49pm
Rubberband Girl:

I was hipped to this record by Roscoe 2000 from KALX. For the record.
Avatar 4:50pm
Otis:

That Dave Grusin was new to the ears. Mellow boogie grooves.
Avatar 4:50pm

(The Grusin)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm
MHLee:

I think Julie played electronic concept orchestra last night
Avatar 4:51pm
Rubberband Girl:

Today was the first day I realized I could play a track at 45 RPM if it felt too slow.
Avatar 4:52pm
Domenic:

That is a great idea!
Avatar 4:52pm
Otis:

Speed changes are so much fun.
Avatar 4:52pm
Mr Fab:

I get "vegas throat" after being in LV for more than a few days. Amazing you live with it. Maybe your system built up a toughness to smoke from being raised in Vegas?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm
MHLee:

This song is suspiciously like into each heart some rain must fall
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm
Michael 98145:

You have the power ! ⚡
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm
Austin Rich:

Reminds me of those "Stars on 45" records from back in the day:

en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar 4:53pm
Rubberband Girl:

This one is STILL hella slow and EZ!
Avatar 4:54pm
Otis:

These sound great at 45... Jackie Gleason really good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm
Austin Rich:

My mom used to play this song on the piano, and sing it to us as kids.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm
MHLee:

This reminds me, if anyone ever finds the 1930s Kate Smith recording of this some let me know
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:54pm
MHLee:

It must exist
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm
Austin Rich:

Is this it?
