He told in an interview that while singing this song at a concert he decided that he didn't want to sing in any other language the his mother tongue anymore. Much to surprise of both audience and band he announced at the end of the concert that this was his last concert singing in English.

@Domenic (1:23): True. But it also is hard. Dutch is a very sharp language and quite unforgiving in metrum and choice of words. Jan Rot actually was a master in choosing the right sounding words for the right timing while keeping the right rhythm and metre in the songs, the translations as well as his own lyrics and still keeping the song nice and fluent.
