Work! lol Had to close or crash everything and completely reboot, and get everything reopened -- quite a process. Which is why I am so late commenting on the Staples track early in the show: When I first moved to the UK as a little kid, I missed the US charts and the music going on. I found weekly US charts in some weekly UK music newspapers, but many US charting songs were not on the UK radio at all. I had to special order 45s from a big record store in St Albans. They told me they thought I was a DJ because of the unusual stuff I was ordering, though I was only 14-15 years old. "Respect Yourself" was an item I ordered in 72 or so, whenever it came out. Fast-forward: Finally saw Ma Staples at JazzFest here in New Orleans in maybe 2019. Anyhow, thanks for "Respect Yourself"...

Our driver was an older white guy who was too chatty and would veer into racist territory (strike that, he was just being racist) seemingly at every turn. I tried desperately to change the subject - his comments were met with silence and I never let on that I was in agreement with anything he said. I was just trying to avoid getting into it with him but now that I’m free, it’s sinking in that I did nothing to clearly communicate to him that what he said was wrong. I failed and there’s no 2 ways about it. I have to find a better way to cut that sh*t short and express my intolerance for it. We were trying to be polite and just trying to get to the effin airport in peace but that’s no excuse. Gotta do better. Thank goodness I have Wake to get me back into a positive state of mind

Hearing the Supremes' "Reflections" took me back to the time when we were all listening to AM radio stations' playing the same 40 or so songs all day long. Thank goodness for the transition to FM radio stations with their much wider playlists(the so-called "free form" era) and clear stereo sound. This revolution in broadcasting has brought us to where we are today with the finest commercial-free, multi-programming broadcaster/streamer on the planet, WFMU.

A volunteer for the first Obama campaign had borrowed my champagne Camry. He returned it three months after he said that he would, parking it on the street without checking in (in person). There were several dents in the body panels. A random drug store walking cane was propped up, barring the driver's side point of ingress. There was a half of a blueberry muffin, crumbled on the floor mat. The other half was still intact, also on the floor mat. Tickets for unpaid tolls and red light camera violations continued to roll in for months from the great states of NC, WV, and VA. That was my Newark Airport. But, much like your sweatshirt, the only thing to do was to brush off the crumbs and then humbly pick up the crumbs because hey, why are your crumbs someone else's problem? [Loud and congested is the new calm]

Work! lol Had to close or crash everything and completely reboot, and get everything reopened -- quite a process. Which is why I am so late commenting on the Staples track early in the show: When I first moved to the UK as a little kid, I missed the US charts and the music going on. I found weekly US charts in some weekly UK music newspapers, but many US charting songs were not on the UK radio at all. I had to special order 45s from a big record store in St Albans. They told me they thought I was a DJ because of the unusual stuff I was ordering, though I was only 14-15 years old. "Respect Yourself" was an item I ordered in 72 or so, whenever it came out. Fast-forward: Finally saw Ma Staples at JazzFest here in New Orleans in maybe 2019. Anyhow, thanks for "Respect Yourself"...

Our driver was an older white guy who was too chatty and would veer into racist territory (strike that, he was just being racist) seemingly at every turn. I tried desperately to change the subject - his comments were met with silence and I never let on that I was in agreement with anything he said. I was just trying to avoid getting into it with him but now that I’m free, it’s sinking in that I did nothing to clearly communicate to him that what he said was wrong. I failed and there’s no 2 ways about it. I have to find a better way to cut that sh*t short and express my intolerance for it. We were trying to be polite and just trying to get to the effin airport in peace but that’s no excuse. Gotta do better. Thank goodness I have Wake to get me back into a positive state of mind

A volunteer for the first Obama campaign had borrowed my champagne Camry. He returned it three months after he said that he would, parking it on the street without checking in (in person). There were several dents in the body panels. A random drug store walking cane was propped up, barring the driver's side point of ingress. There was a half of a blueberry muffin, crumbled on the floor mat. The other half was still intact, also on the floor mat. Tickets for unpaid tolls and red light camera violations continued to roll in for months from the great states of NC, WV, and VA. That was my Newark Airport. But, much like your sweatshirt, the only thing to do was to brush off the crumbs and then humbly pick up the crumbs because hey, why are your crumbs someone else's problem? [Loud and congested is the new calm]
