smooth as a melted stick of butter, this.

This is awesome! I need this album
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:03pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Her style isn't quite what Nigella does...
Avatar 3:04pm
Mr Fab:

Why does Julia Child sound like one of Monty Python's female characters?
Avatar 3:04pm
worldsworstrecords:

No one 'quite' does what Nigella does
Avatar 3:05pm
worldsworstrecords:

that's exactly what I was thinking, Mr F... she sounds like a Pepperpot
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:05pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

not even Nigella herself.
Avatar 3:06pm
Domenic:

Just looked it up.. Julia Child was born in Pasadena, CA! Where did she get that accent? I live in NE and grew up knowing some ladies who sounded like her...
Avatar 3:08pm
David in California:

From Wikipedia: "In a 1978 Saturday Night Live sketch (episode 74[59]), she was parodied by Dan Aykroyd, who—as Julia Child—continued with a cooking show despite ludicrously profuse bleeding from a cut to his thumb, and eventually expired while advising, "Save the liver." Child reportedly loved this sketch so much she showed it to friends at parties."
Avatar 3:09pm
worldsworstrecords:

I'm guessing it was her 'posh' accent. My late mother used to put on a 'posh' voice every time she answered the telephone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:10pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

lady of the house speaking...
Avatar 3:11pm
worldsworstrecords:

not far off, PK... although this was years before Mrs Bucket
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:12pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

youtu.be... - the SNL sketch
Avatar 3:12pm
Mr Fab:

David in CA, gotta admit that as soon as this show started, that sketch was the first thing that popped into my head. "Ooh, I just cut the dickens out of my finger!"
Avatar 3:14pm
David in California:

I'm always favorably inclined toward people who, unlike the BeeGees, enjoy seeing themselves parodied.
Avatar 3:14pm

Hi everyone! Hi DJGG san!

or Prince. Supposedly the one guy who would not give Weird Al permission to parody one of his songs.
Avatar 3:18pm
worldsworstrecords:

She's not here, Mike-san... I'm streaming her show and looking after the board
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

While Weird Al didn't actually needed permission
Avatar 3:18pm
worldsworstrecords:

Hi there Flannery!
Avatar 3:19pm
David in California:

I was surprised to learn that Stan Freberg was able to do his Dragnet parodies because Jack Webb was a fan.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Great, by the way, that Georgy put the labels and details back in the playlist.

..as in 'nutmegging'?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Rich in Washington:

this show is making me hungry
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

I already have thinned out my growing Library Music collection because I am mainly interested in the 1970s and late 60's stuff.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Nutmegging.. Not to be confused with Meg-nutting.
..
I'll get me coat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

what did I say there. Shame on me.
Avatar 3:24pm
worldsworstrecords:

I thought 'nutmegging' was a sexy thing, but apparently it's a footbally thing. Maybe I'm confusing it with teabagging...
Avatar 3:25pm
worldsworstrecords:

This soundscape that GG has put together this week is simply fabulous
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Oh all those modern terms and phrases... And the weird things them youths do...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:26pm

this really is. Another one I am sure I will be revisiting.
Avatar 3:27pm
Mr Fab:

Shazam tells me the track we just heard was "Housewives Choice." For those of you trying to follow along.
Avatar 3:28pm
Domenic:

Love that 50's music vibe and have some digital compilations, but it only fun to listen to in this context. And on Sheena
Avatar 3:31pm
Mike Rogers:

Hi Darryl!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Julia's presentation also hasn't got the mindfullness of a Bob Ross painting session. But it sure is fun to listen to, especially enlaced with these bright and upbeaten eggwhite-tunes
Avatar 3:38pm
worldsworstrecords:

I'm guessing that was Spring in New York
Avatar 3:40pm
Mr Fab:

i've been trying to follow the playlist and I believe it was, Darryl.
Avatar 3:48pm
worldsworstrecords:

I've been trolling Discogs while I've been listening.. this is going to turn out to be an expensive night!
Avatar 3:49pm
Domenic:

I doubt Julia child cleaned up after herself when she cooked at WGBH... that what interns from Emerson were for..
Avatar 3:49pm
worldsworstrecords:

fanny Craddock did the same here in Britain
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm
Phillippe:

Hey, sorry I'm late
Avatar 3:50pm

She had interns to do her dirty work, and her husband, Johnny, to do everything else
Avatar 3:50pm

Hi Phillippe

Avatar 3:53pm

DJ GeorgyGirl will be back next week. On Friday there will be no Flange, instead I shall be sitting in with two hours of French pop from the 1960s
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

@Mr. Fab: It's 'just' a cheese soufflé, I guess.. I feel like she makes it sound like it is very very elaborate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm
Phillippe:

not sure if its been discussed, but there is one of those elimination cooking shows airing where people have to cook meals using select ingredients from Julia Child recipes, or something like that. I only watched part of one episode.
Avatar 3:55pm
Domenic:

Should have been listening to this over the speakers... My daughter tells me this music sounds like "Sims"... She likes to cook too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:55pm
Paper Kosmonaut:

Ye-Ye Darryl! Merci for hosting this hour of upbeat tunes.
Avatar 3:55pm

You're welcome, PK! See you Friday evening, hopefully
