The only answer song to "Ruby" I'd heard was "Billy, I've Got To Go To Town" by Geraldine Stevens. But the Geezinslaw Brothers song is much funnier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm
Austin Rich:

The Country Mouse that moved to The City that lives in my soul will always love old country tunes. But I think there's definitely a cut-off, where I just don't click with stuff after a certain date. I'm thinking by the time we get very far into the 80's I start to loose interest, but I'd have to do a taste-test to truly decide. I suspect that there's exceptions once I lay down a rule or a date.
Avatar 5:50pm
spacebrother:

@ David - I'd heard of that one, but haven't heard it yet, I don't think.

Avatar 5:51pm
spacebrother:

This is one of my favorite songs ever.
Avatar 5:51pm
Mr Fab:

Well Austin it started sounding sound less and less country. The stuff that calls itself country now is basically just Republican rock.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
Austin Rich:

Porter's got a great voice.
Avatar 5:52pm
spacebrother:

@ Austin - One of my favorites ever. I call him "Goth Country"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm
Austin Rich:

I used to hear more country through osmosis (especially in offices and stuff), and there's only really a token reference to "country", like occasionally there's a steel guitar, or something. But it's basically pop music now, with occasionally references to the musical genre.

The voices of old singers are the appeal. They are just so soothing and beautiful.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm
Austin Rich:

"Republican Rock." I don't want to even guess what that sounds like.

Boring?
Avatar 5:55pm
spacebrother:

I'm sort of addicted to this album now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm
