Pittsburghers are a hardy folk. Still, it's unnerving given that there are bridges almost literally everywhere. Jessie and I took a walk with the dog through Schenley Park last weekend. The trail goes under a bridge of very similar design to the one that collapsed. The underside of the bridge is a ridiculous rusty mess. I drive over this bridge practically every day.

I live two blocks from Jerry's Records. Spent many hours thumbing through the dusty treasures there. Spent many hours both buying and selling LPs with Jerry. He was a gem. On a couple of occasions, I realized that I was buying back from him records I'd sold to him previously. (What the hell am I thinking selling LPs anyway?!?!) When I mentioned it to Jerry, he chuckled with delight and cut his price in half.

Speaking of docs, saw the one on Clive Davis recently. The praise for him, though perhaps deserved and maybe earnest, gets redundant, and I didn't come away with any real insights or background regarding artist deals or the studio recording process and firsthand influence in day to day involvement, other than a few examples. And you sure get the impression, from the thin sketching, there's much much more to know about his control of artists -- the pressuring, demands and redirecting. "Single, single! Hit, hit!"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28am
Doug Schulkind:

Clive Davis is prominent in the Kenny G documentary. As a subject, not a talking head. Whatever good Davis has done for the world, he undid it all by unleashing the plague that is Kenny Gorelick.
